You are right he was and I was one that was happy with the appointment, but he was interviewed way back in December 2020 and Sparks said he knew then he was the right man so this wasn’t done because the fans wanted him. He ticked the clubs boxes as Faithful said. Some of Brentford’s more successful managers in recent years their fans have probably never heard of, but they suited the clubs philosophy rather than just a name that had been there and done it. It’s not long ago since we were in the same division, I compare both clubs because it’s the most stark difference in fortunes you’ll see and that starts at the top.

And therein is the problem, a "modest budget".

A manager potentially has to work within a modest budget, with assumption, financed by fans, sponsors etc.
Fast forward to next season and that budget may well be less, especially if the club announce a further increase in season ticket prices. Yet expectations will be just the same.

As fans, honestly, we need to temper expectations of our manager and our range of signings.

Until we have strong leadership and a clear direction, communicated, I just feel this perpetual cycle of 'failure' will continue.

    Rupp out.

And that would have been almost exclusively down to his exploits at Morecambe. I doubt if anyone really had much idea of how he operates and how dull his football is.

We will give a new manager time, We understand he will need plenty of it to correct the shambles Adams has created at the club, Fans are patient if they can see hope and progress

We never learn. Never. We don't work to a plan or strategy, we have no consistent and identifiable way of playing and as a consequence, our recruitment is all over the shop.

When Adams leaves, which looks inevitable and imminent, presumably the scouts he brought in will follow him out. And the squad has no design or balance to it. Its a full rebuild job every time we change manager because no one is actually running the club to a proper footballing strategy.

Adams has no tactics or plan that we can see. There’s no uniformed press or hunting in packs to get the ball back. Players looking like total strangers and miles apart. We play with no width if Vernham isn’t on the pitch, but to be fair we have a number of key injuries to those positions. I think I heard Adams saying he didn’t know how to fix it, if so that has to be the final nail in the coffin.
I’m tired of the whole chop and change manager scenario, but I just can’t see anything to cling onto with him. No tactics, no game plan, no motivation, no relationship and no idea how to turn this around.

If I was Sparks, I’d go to Rupp and explain why he needs to dispense with another manager and look to bring in Lee Johnson if he can. Plays the game the right way and experienced with the big club mentality.

This was brought up at fans forum and we were told the scouts work for the club and not Adams. Whether they’d want to stay is another matter.

If I were Sparks I would be going to Rupp and say dip your hand in your pockets. Is Rupp actually a Scottish Yorkshireman - he is certainly acting like one! The football is dire but if we can’t bring in the right talent due to budgets then the problem is at the top. Adams, nor any other manager for that matter, has no chance of success at BCFC until he is backed financially. End of!

Exactly. They won't be here for more than 2 mins. They were Adams picks i believe?

As a matter of absolute priority, we need to rethink our approach to recruiting players. I'd say we need to invest in data analytics to improve our chances of signing 'the right players' but before we even get there, we need to decide what type of football we want to play, and what principles we're building a squad around.

Instead, we just bumble along from manager to manager and hope we land on one that can perform miracles and sort our shit out across all football elements of the club. We need someone running that show, and Sparks ain't up to it.

The first thing we need, is to have the right manager in place and whilst it seems he has done reasonably well in other areas, Ryan Sparks' football record leaves a lot to be desired.

When it comes to the time of the next manager appointment, Ryan needs to take more of a back seat and bring in football 'professionals' to help the Club recruit the right person for the job. By that, I mean bring in ex players/managers who understand the Club (e.g. Gary Jones) to help us with the recruitment, people who understand the game, people who are up to speed with the current situation but, most importantly, people who are Bradford City.

I’ve mentioned this before but I’ll say it again. Rupp/Sparks could do a lot worse than spending £50k or so on a Warnock or Rednapp to come into the club, review our set up and feed this back as a potential blueprint to work to. There’s no shame in asking for help, particularly in Sparks position, in fact he’d get a lot more respect if he did. This isn’t a time for protecting your ego or pride, there are bigger things at stake at the club right now.

How is that spot on he was also at Plymouth a club of comparable size and was described as the “most successful in their history”

Last away game for me Saturday.
If the team can't be arsed neither can I.
It's been a sham of a season and I can not see anything changing in the foreseeable future.
Lowest I've ever felt as a supporter since 1978.
If by any chance the CEO and Owner reads this forum.
I and many other long standing supporters have had enough, your killing what's left of our club and you are accountable 100%.

And Rupp would just say Sparks what you know? You are a novice and lucky to be in the role.

I couldn't give a monkeys. He was recruited on the basis that Sparks believed Adams could polish a turd on the cheap. There was clearly no thought given to whether he'd connect with the fans or the style of play. Fans of his previous clubs will tell you that this is how he operates. Plymouth fans were glad to see him go by the end.

    What hindsight?

Many on here have said for the last 3 years that Rupp is a disaster as owner and we'll achieve nothing under Sparks unless he has help. The managerial role and the need for another change is secondary. None of this is a surprise Park, its been entirely predictable. But, when many were predicting it and trying to focus minds on the rot we have at the club, some, such as yourself, refuse to see it.

Exactly this. The easy option would be to show Adams the door, but anyone that thinks things will magically change for the better with a new manager in charge is unfortunately clutching at straws. Unless things change from the top down, we won't be progressing on the field anytime soon.
