He came here because he was the best qualified for the job with a long list of success we poached him from another club most fans and some commentators thought we had a coup. It hasn’t worked but the logic of the appointment can not be questioned except with the benefit of hindsight

I did quote once Sir Alex Fergusion has retired.
    Season 2013/14 they finished 7th.
    Season 2014/15they finished 4th
    Season 2015/16 they finished 5th
    Season 2016/17 they finished 6th
Season 2017/18 they finished 2nd still unacceptable for many United fans.
    Season 2018/19 they finished 6th.
    Season 2019/20 they finished 3rd
    Season 2020/21 they finished 2nd.

Starting to think it’s an age thing. Not understanding what modern football is all about and why off the pitch matters a vital in this day and age.

Dave, still 4 trophies and 4 runner ups with heavyweight competition in their midst. I'm not convinced the comparable you are making is truly relevant

Yes but once Fergy and as you say David Gill left they brought in people they expected to keep Man United in the mix certainly in regards to the Premier League title come the end of the season, yet they have not won a single title since Fergy retired, and they can attract thd best world wide.
Getting back to the point it realy doesn't matter that the owners are not football men, we saw with our own eyes what damage someone "who knew football" could do.

It can because Sparks didn’t understand the fans. He cared about himself and the budget.

Quickly looking into Adams no matter of the success in his last jobs fans don’t miss him or are bothered he’s gone.

Again that's wrong, not everyone agreed with the appointment. Just because he was successful at the club with the smallest budget in the league does not in any way mean he will be successful elsewhere. In fact the likelyhood of him pulling off what he did at Morecambe in those circumstances are likely to never be achieved again, a complete one off. If we are to use the same analogy you are using with say our appointment of Grayson then why wasn't he a success here? He'd been far more successful than Adams and was used to working with big clubs and budgets.

I think probably both the attributes of Adams CV and the supporters enthusiasm which ‘ticked’ the boxes.
    A decent comparison Brentford.
Again many on here and in the broader fan base want a ‘proven’ manager. Well I have news. Successful managers have to start somewhere. Apart from a few elite managers, most only have limited amount of success (they are not all the Neil Warnocks of this world), it may well be better to go with someone who is hungry for success and has a style of play which appeals to the fans.
Better to have tried in an elegant and attractive style, and failed rather than a pragmatic and relatively dull manner.

It's always difficult to replace someone like Fergy it would be silly to deny the man ran the show at Man United, to a lesser degree losing Phil Parkinson was similar regarding the running of the football side of Bradford City, where as Fergy retired and Man United had plenty of notice that was going to be the situation at the end of 2013 we did not see Phil Parkinson walking as he like Fergy would not tolerate any sort of outside influence into anything football wise at Valley Parade.

    Must have missed that one
Plenty of Plymouth fans couldn't stand the sight of him in the end

The original comment was with regards an owner needing to be a football fan to bring their club sucsess, my comment was Man United (along with many more owners) aren't.
2 runners up not 4, Manchester United owners my class sucsess as winning the FA Cup, Charity
Shield, UEFA Europa League, but most Premier League fans know the one that counts is the Premier League winning that over 38 games is the trophy most want.

He wasn’t just successful with Morecambe but every club he was at and probably a bigger percentage of fans than agree about anything thought it was a good appointment.as I say it is only poor with the benefit of hindsight isn’t it a wonderful thing

Unless we have a skilled, capable and experienced person running this club, we’ll go nowhere.

Only at the very end after he got them promoted and almost into the championship. I also didn’t see any moans at Morecambe in the Plymouth fanzine he was described as probably the most successful in the clubs history. Your right that after the only poor spell they had he criticised fans just as he has here.

I neither agreed or disagreed with the appointment of Adams. i was open minded. Like all appointments , there are no gaurantees of success.
What is blatantly obvious is that its not working. Given time he might find a way of wining games, but at this time it looks a long way off.
He might have got more understanding if the football was more entertaining, its not.
He also does not help himself with the after match interviews, often saying we were the better team, we are not and constantly blaming anyone but himself for our current predicament.
I do not know the way forward and if the changing of the manager is the right way to go.
What i do think though , we can not continue on the path he has set, results , performances are poor and support is dwindling.
Attending games is now becoming an obligation , rather than something to look forward to, i will continue to attend , many won't and the club will suffer financially.
I am not the owner or the CEO, if i was , he would have to go, you can not alienate the paying customers.

We've discussed this many times with regards the appointment of any football manager at any level there is an element of luck in it, Phil Parkinson was very successful with us over his time here not as successful at other clubs.
Bolton fans were not his biggest fans although he got them promoted and maybe Hull was too bigger challenge at the time, it will be interesting how far
Parky can take Wrexham with what looks like owners who are more than happy to financialy back their manager.

So we're talking a CEO rather than owners.

Your right I think it’s very regrettable that we should be changing manager yet again. At some stage we are going to have to give them time to build a team and a togetherness that has been missing for the last few years. The post match interview in the Leyton Orient game plus the performance convinced me it couldn’t go on

Preferably both. But yes, at the very least it needs a capable CEO or DoF running things
