Confused with this signing.. Elliot it about the same level as Robinson who can’t get a game. So we’ve signed another non scoring impact sub.
Salford wouldn’t have let him come here if he was any good. Baffling.

Salford have paid Championship wages for the 32 year old Matt Smith, who's scored two goals this season (admittedly two divisions above). They've got him for 18 months.

To be honest I'd rather have this signing as opposed to be paying over the odds for a striker who's best days look way behind him.

Our team is crying out for a target man who can cause centre halves problems, hold the ball up & win knockdowns for the midfield. Having just brought in Walker & Daly to add to Sutton, Cooke and Watt who all like a shot but rarely get opportunities maybe Del Boy is building a team to play his way, maybe he actually does know what he’s doing........
Sorry I know that doesn’t fit with lots of peoples agendas on here anymore!

Good signing for us with the qualities we need for the way Adams likes to play, Hope he plays both him and Cooky as a dual strike force especially at home but doubt it with Adams preferring a more defensive set up, A move to 4-1-3-2 would give the team more outlet

I'd argue, that currently it's lack of creativity that's the problem. 6 goals in this 5 match 10 point sequence isn't great - until your realise that 4 were away from home.

If Pereira starts firing and Vernon gets back to his best etc - then I'm fine now that we have three of four strikers who will convert the chances. Let's remember Lavery is decent, he just needs to stay fit for a few weeks.

Once we didn't get our targets in summer, it was always going to be a struggle.

I'd say 95% of the reaction to this is saying he is crap, so that's not really true.

Well it fits our narrative of hoofing the ball down field that's for sure.

    If Pereira starts firing?
If he starts at all would be a bonus.

So another target man for us to aimlessly lump the ball up to. IF we had a decent midfield who can run onto knock downs and second balls, then I could understand it. But we don't. If we had two decent wingers or full backs who can swing dangerous crosses into the box, then I could understand it. But we don't.

This is just another signing to bring on for Cook after 75 mins.

Forget tales of going for promotion to sell tickets, platitudes, and fans forums, and hash tags, and podcasts with the chairman, this signing tells you everything you need to know about the genuine level of ambition this club - and its owner - has.

No need to worry we have the judgement of Mr Adams. He has to turn the tide sometime it's on him.

Agreed. But let's not be too cynical. Apparently he is now fit.

When you consider injuries, fitness issues due to Covid, new players settling in - in fairness that haul of points has been impressive.

Now, there should be no excuses and I see no reason that a team that doesn't lose a lot, shouldn't be able to win a bit more.

Agendas? He’s crap! He’s that crap that Salford have let him come here when in theory we’re only a point behind Salford in the league!
Tell me how he’s better than Theo Robinson? He isn’t. It’s a cheap and lazy signing and the comments from Salford fans confirm what we all know.

Well when he was brought on against us he played very well. We don’t have any end product so let’s see what he does with the cooky monster.

I can see him doing what Parky memorably did towards the end of the 2015/16 season, when we reached the first play-offs, i.e. bring on the big guns in the second half.

Oh dear! You're going to make your mind up based on a few tweets from rival fans.

Who did you have in mind? I mean since this is "crap" you must have better in mind.

Is the end of our window now? I think we've used our loan quota haven't we?
Maybe a few going out on the final day, but I can't see us using any actual money to make any actual signings.

Pretty safe signing, I imagine he will be on the bench to begin with, replacing Cook if we're winning or brought on to partner him if we're chasing games.

If Cook gets injured, it's a better replacement than any of our other options.

This is very much a striker signing in the Parky mould - men, not boys, won't need time to get up to speed, could potentially slot in from day one, and gives us an easy route option.

I think this is a much better signing than people want to give credit for, while not as interesting as a non league/Irish gamble.

If we'd signed Georgie though, I reckon we'd have chances in the play offs - but I'm saying we finish 11th ish with this squad.
