So you will still pay for the games you chose not to attend? What is your point?

No If it turns out the amount of games I have watched means I owe money to the club I will pay it but I won't pay for the games I shall end up missing

Saturday will be home match six. The cost of a ticket on the day is £25 so had you not had a season ticket, Saturday would have seen you pay £150 in total. Forest Green on 30th November will see you making a saving as opposed to pay on the day.

Ah but if you had a ST to which I do you can only charge accordingly to games it represents. There is nothing from the club or ruling that states should anything change to stop fans going to grounds that the fan can't stop it's payments. As long has my ST had paid enough to cover the games played so far then I nor the club have broken any agreement. What the club can do and is their right they can stop me buying a ST in the future. Also has it stands I have only seen 2 home games anyway due to other commitments and am likely to miss the next two for similar reasons.

So are you going to stop your payments now, as if you have only been to two games then you are three in hand and will be five in hand after Tuesday night? So if I am right seven games will have been played at home. The price of a match with a Season Ticket is £8.61 (rounded up). That would be £60.26 worth of your season ticket. Had you paid by match, then the two games you have been to would have cost you £40 in advance or £50 on the day. So are you going to withhold the extra you have paid, because you won’t be at 5 out of 7 home games, by the end of October. The logic becomes unfathomable! Where do you stop?

No because the passports are not in place yet so if I did I would be breaking an agreement and the club rightfully would have me banged to rights to get the full amount. I can only stop doing so IF there becomes a change within that agreement from when I purchased my ST.

the saving a ST represents is due to the fact you are committing for a season. That’s why you get it for the cheap rate per game.

i hope the club stick two fingers up to those cancelling direct debits, personally.

Is there a change? The game is still on, the turnstiles are still turning. It is you deciding not to attend even though you could and it is you breaking the agreement. I think the club will debit your ticket account the full amount

Looks like the option to cancel the season ticket isn’t available

    Q. Can I cancel my ‘Take Me Home’ 2021/22 season ticket or direct debit payment part way through the season?

    A. No. You may amend your payment method from direct debit to another type, by contacting or visiting the ticket office at the Utilita Energy Stadium, but the outstanding balance must then be paid in full. The same answer applies to questions over whether a lump sum can be paid part way through the season, on top of funds which are being paid monthly.

You do pay for something you can't use if you have made a prior to commitment to pay for it. If it's available and you have chosen not to meet the terms, even if they have changed, then you have to pay.

And as soon as you cancel the DD they will cancel your membership so you end up paying £20 for individual games. This scheme doesn't have a pick and choose what you pay for option.

Totally behind that. It's called welching on an agreement. What would O2 do if I decided I didnt want my phone contract in November but did in December ? Easy, default me and impair my credit record and that is exactly what the club should do to anyone who cancels the contract mid term.

All they need to do is show the contract has been broken, doesn't have a break clause and they can easily have a default registered against you, then every County Court in the land would award them a CCJ to enforce it. The club might never get the money, but it would still mess the defaulter up.

If they do, I hope non of the welchers want a mortgage in the next six years.

Read the small print. There will be nothing in there at all that says you can cancel if the Govt bring in Covid passports, but there will be something that says admittance is only allowed in line with Club Policy at the point you want to gain entry. If the club policy changes mid term you can do absolutely nothing about it.

I seriously doubt that claiming discrimination against non Covid Passport holders would stand up in any court.

I fully accept the club are stuck between a rock and a hard place on this and it's through no fault of their own but the argument remains if and when passports do come out and certain fans can't attend due to not being vaccinated then that agreement will have been broken . I would like to see the small print stating that I or any other fan agreed that we should have to be vaccinated to enter the stadium when we bought our ST.

Had the club made a statement When fans were purchasing ST that should the government bring out VP during the season then fans will not be entitled to any refund then I or any other fan wouldn't have a leg to stand on but I can guarantee you that the ST sales would have been a good few thousand less and the club knew that.

I have just looked at the club's website there is no mention that should passports be brought in and fans unable to attend due to not being vaccinated they can't claim a refund, all it does say is you can't cancel your ST halfway through but that of course this is a grey area as the agreement made will have been broken. If you ever watch Martin Lewis he has said regularly that if an agreement on a contract is changed at some point during that period the customer is entitled to ask for money back unless they have signed to say otherwise.

Anyway I will be contacting the club directly on the matter over the weekend and will let you know the outcome.

I think all football clubs that will be effected will be in for a massive shock to how many fans start to put refund claims in.

Perhaps put a question on the MSE (Martin Lewis) https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search?query=Contract%20changes&scope=site&Search=Contract%20changes forum and see what advice they give.? Either copy and paste the response or a link to it?

As things stand at the moment, the domestic COVID passport is valid if:
    • you are fully vaccinated; or
    • you have had COVID in the last 6 months (positive PCR test) and have completed the self isolation period; or
    • you have had a negative PCR or lateral flow test taken in the previous 48 hours; or
    • you have a medical exemption.
Those that took part in the vaccine trials can also get one.

Unless you have currently got COVID, and therefore would be excluded on public health grounds, I fail to see how you can't produce one of the above to gain entry to the ground, whatever your beliefs are regarding the vaccines. Therefore, contractually, I believe you would find it hard to successfully argue that you were being prevented from attending.

Deliberately making things difficult for yourself does not entitle you to a refund.
