I’d have started with better recruitment of strikers in the summer. Obvious to all before the season started that Lavery, Cook and Angol wouldn’t score enough and the addition of Theo Robinson, the same Theo Robinson replaced by Kurtis Guthrie, hasn’t changed that one bit.
I’d play a similar team to what we have, it’s not a million miles off but it just lacking in quality in a couple of spots.

A back four of Threlkeld, POC, Canavan and Ridehalgh is good enough, midfield needed improvement, Songo’o was meant to the main man, where is he?
In the attacking part of the field a back up for Cooke is needed and I’d play Crankshaw over Gilliead, not seen enough of Eisa to comment.
The team needs to be able to play differently when necessary, like last week when Walsall’s defenders repeatedly cleared the same balls.
Not for me to say who the alternative players should be, but if I look at the players Turnbull has brought in, Cook and Vernam count as successful, there are a couple of maybes and then the likes of Rowe, Lavery, Stevens, Burrell and so on in the negatives. That’s where the club falls down. Two successes out of 15 or 16 players.

 

I had great hope for both of them but it just ain't happening, lack of confidence..?

 

I would have liked to have seen someone come on to support Cook and play up with him rather than him trying away by himself. Whatever formation that would have meant but at least an extra person at the top and more centrally than Vernam and Gilliead.

Or, if we were happy with a point then taking off one or more of Cooke/Vernam/Gilliead and bringing on more defensive players to win a point against arguably a rival for the top places.

My concern is Adams seemingly does neither. He neither pushes for a win or shores things up. He just carries on regardless!

 

Generally agree.

But I have to disagree that we have "plenty of options." We don't. From an attacking perspective, the front 4 pick themselves regardless of form. Our bench is not good enough and every option weakens the player they end up replacing.

 

And yet after around 20 minutes of the game I posted that the side was poor and needed changes or they would score and win, Some people know the game and some think they do, The young players did well last season and should be round the squad putting pressure on those picked not relying on cast off and past it journeyman players

 

Try being realistic and understand that we won’t win every game and that our squad isn’t as good as some of you thought and that we were never getting 100 points this season.

 

Yep totally agree between him and Evans we have 2 complete passengers who contribute nothing! Cant believe Evans is even still at the club never mind getting game time each week utter dog shit!

 

He did be it late, I imagine if Cook hadn’t have got a knock we would have gone two up top although neither striker gives me any confidence. Ironically when we brought the extra forward on in Robinson we conceded due to him losing his man, who would be a manager…

Reading some of the OTT guff on here you would have thought we actually played shit today. Stats tells me that we created 17 chances to score AWAY from home and 4 on target. Their GK is MOTM.

On another day we walk away 2-0 winners.

Not concerned at all.

Right manager in Adams and anyone who says otherwise is a bit deluded.

Eisa, Vernam, Gillead, Crankshaw, Lavery, Cook, Angol and Robinson. Plenty of options. Very decent options for a league 2 outfit too.
We were all pleased that we had signed Cook as our main striker in the summer. I’m genuinely interested in who these people who say our recruitment was poor would suggest we signed as a back up to Cook? What player with a half decent record is going to come here and sit on the bench? There isn’t one. Is there any team in this league or the league above who have a 15-20 goal a season striker just sitting on the bench? Id bet not that many.

 

Again its all good and well creating chances, we created chances against Walsall and drew as we didn't put them away. We can continue to create chances but if we dont have the personel to score them then were going to struggle.

I agree we have a good manager in Adams but think we have fecked up in recruitment up top.

What the hell is an accurate corner, one that lands in the box? People dont half collect some shit. Does a corner that lands outside of the box but is smashed home count as an inaccurate corner?
