I remember a time when Notts County signed Kasper Schmeichel and Sol Campbell. Thats my definition of marquee.

Us paying 70% of his salary is way too much on its own. He came to Donny on CC wages so he will be on more than double what we pay our best earners anyway. So the wages scales aren’t compatible. He settles his contract terms and remuneration with Donny then agrees a wage with City. They aren’t linked.

 

Why was it a question to me as I said I didn't bring the marquee comment up ask Park.

 

His last contract @ Charlton was £3,800, not much more than you paid AOC

I think realism is now hitting L1/2 clubs. Unless clubs find a benefactor like Hoyle , or perhaps Salford ( which won’t last forever)the division can’t sustain those sort of wages any more.

 

He won’t be Kev as INS said he was on £3.8k per week at Charlton which is lower than a fair few in league 1, and they probably had to pay him off to get rid. As I said earlier I work with a Donny fan and he said they aren’t big payers, their budget is likely a fair bit less than ours when Rahic blew all that money and we were relegated. I don’t think it’ll happen anyway, but it’s certainly not impossible if Donny were willing to make up the difference. They have their own striker in mind so no doubt will be eager to get rid. As Rogered said it’s all poker atm.

 

He’s going to be on too much to be a number 2/3 that’s the issue. Cook is the main man.
I think this is a situation where I’d like an actual decent (unlike however many of the previous) loanee from higher up

Out of curiosity who in L1 pays more than 3.8k a week for a player. Salford and ?
Sustainable football will pay dividends in the end. Adams with Morecambe shows how it can be achieved.imho

Salford are league 2 Kev, if that’s the league you meant then only then I’d suspect. It’s over double the average salary in league 2.

 

Why would he be a back up ? He’d be to replace Angol who would have played ever game but for his injury
