What makes me sad is when you walk around and you a lot of older folks wearing masks and a lot of younger folks can't be bothered but it's the older people at risk

Also the younger people not wearing masks are less likely to know if they even have the virus which makes it even worse while the older people probably don't have it as they tend to get it worse

The most tragic thing is those younger people if you put them face to face with someone who got covid really bad would be gutted but they'll never know they caused the illnesses I guess

I feel that is a simplistic appraisal. Saying the youth "can't be bothered" is a lazy statement Imo.

Putting the blame purely on the "youth" is, possibly, unfair... I looked around last night at the ground, and ALL age groups did not wear masks.. I didn't see one person wearing a mask in the upper Kop... Just a senior lady on the way out to Midland Road at the end of the game.

Risk is all around when it comes to humanity. Smoking, alcohol, food, drugs (illegal /legal) technology, pollution et al.

    Covid is risk.

I feel its wrong/lazy to apportion blame purely on youth.

Yes fair play I accept your point it was a generalisation from what I saw around me today rather than football

Certainly I didn't see anyone wearing a mask during the game although I saw a few in the concourses before and after

By younger people believe it or not I am including 40 year olds because I see an awful lot not wearing any masks

My point about it being sad and tragic is that it should surely be the other way round if you're more likely to be assymptomatic then you should be more likely to wear a mask if you're less likely to be assymptomatic then maybe less cause to wear a mask

To be honest just thinking out loud

The government benches at Westminster had about 5 masks from the hundreds there.

If they don't bother and are seen on TV then no one will.

I haven't worn a mask for a month myself and I doubt me wearing one when everyone else isn't at City would make any difference at all.

As a 48 year old, I do not wear a mask in most scenarios. I wash my hands regularly, I cough into my arm... Is this the right way? .. Possibly not.

Wrongly or rightly, possibly selfishly, I worry little of risk. My thinking is life is littered with risk.

I'm more worried about dementia, cancer, mental health than Covid.

If I read your assertion correctly, I do feel their is more mask wearing in general society than football stadia, which poses its own question.
But I see that extension in other areas of society, pubs as an example. Why is that?

I'm not sure how as humanity we move forward. But I can say it won't be collectively.

With the driving round Bradford there is more danger driving to the game and crossing the street than there is in not wearing a mask.

I think being outside is better anyway inside is a different matter and we're not in concourses for very long

Supermarkets and places like that I am still wearing a mask because you never know

So, not wearing a mask reduces your chances of being run over?

I have wondered if it would have been possible to have a mask wearing section for those of us who are more vulnerable and would feel better about attending if that were the case. Obviously little point in wearing a mask when surrounded by thousands who are not. I know of others like myself who bought season tickets in good faith thinking there would be some sort of relatively covid safe provision and who have not felt able to attend matches yet. I realise we are a minority but maybe clubs could have surveyed to see if there was enough demand for something like this. I don't think any clubs have done this so not just a City thing. Logistically probably wasn't a goer but would have appreciated that it had been considered at least, rather than the cross our fingers and hope it all turns out OK appoach!

It's a bit of a pain but if you turn up an hour before kick off the ground is empty, you can easily navigate from the gate to your seat masked without coming into any contact with anyone.

During the game the same areas of the ground are empty, a view of ticket sales for the next game show huge areas of unsold seats, such as in the bottom corners of the Kop, the gods in the main stand, Block A in midland road.

This is block F in the Kop for example

    Block A Midland Road

    upload_2021-8-19_12-31-30.png

And block M of the main stand

    upload_2021-8-19_12-32-11.png

If you wait around 15min after the final whistle you will find it easy to navigate out of the ground without being in contact with people.

This way you can massively manage your own risk.

I have turned up early for both games, and stayed after the final whistle so I was not caught in say the bottleneck at the stairs behind the NW Corner. I'm quite happy to sit where I sit, but if I wasn't I would simply move to one of the blocks mentioned above to be on my own.

I have seen people talking about not feeling safe in Supermarkets in the past and responded in the same way, don't head to a supermarket at 12 noon on a Saturday and be upset at people doing their own thing, Simply get your shopping at 7pm on a Tuesday when the Supermarket is basically empty.

I'm not sure if this gives you the confidence to attend the game but due to our large stadium we are in a position keep to ourselves if we want.

No problem, I hope it gives you the confidence to attend safely and witness this team. Our performance on Tuesday was as good as it has been I would say since the season we made the play off final. Granted that's not much to shout about as the following season were dire, but I don't want to jump to gun and suggest we will be going up with the Christmas decorations.
