I don’t think I mentioned season ticket holders. I think a lot of clubs have a much lower percentage season ticket holders to casual fans than us.

Im guessing at some point some research was done at those paying on the gate at non league games asking if they would attend if their main team were on the TV at the same time

Don’t buy that argument one bit sorry . If you want to go to a game say Kings Lynn V York as opposed to staying in watching…. Give me York any day. You can watch the big clubs onSky or MOTD later in the day… You can’t watch York at 10.30 pm on a Sat night.?

So you would rather go watch Kings Lynn v York in person than watch Exeter v City on iFollow?

I think the assumption that if you cannot go to Exeter, you would be keen to go to see any team play live, may only apply to a very small amount of people.
If I cannot make a City match, then I don’t check to see if there is a none league game on. I find some other none football activity.
If City were on I-Follow, then there is a very good chance that I would pay to watch.

I suppose it all depends on the numbers that would stop going to leagues below their main club. A small decrease at lower levels could close clubs down

No you said Manu or Liverpool on Tv would keep people at home as opposed to going to a game.
I can’t go to games and I wouldn’t watch PL at the expense of going to see a game live if I could go in non Covid times.

    Have I misunderstood?

I just used Man Utd Liverpool as an example. The example could be Exeter V City. Put simply lower league teams eg Kings Lynn would lose casual fans. That is the argument those below use to resist those above being allowed to show games live at 3pm

I agree with you there but I think it's the FA that think other televised games might result in lower attendances at premier league level..

If this really is the issue then perhaps lower league games should be moved to Sunday afternoons. That way they'll have a much bigger potential audience every week rather than every other week when fans of teams higher up the football pyramid allegedly go to watch them because the team they support are playing away.

That was the argument the old duffers at the FA used for years to stop televised TV at games, They were spectacularly wrong with TV boosting the interest and profile of the game and producing record attendances and income for the clubs,
They now seem to be using the same argument which was wrong then and is wrong now

good idea. If City played all their games on Sunday then the away games could be on

That wouldn't help the smaller teams though would it, which I thought was the problem.

This year there will be others tentative about going back to live matches after all thats gone on.

The EFL should have embraced the last 18 months and carried on Ifollow on Saturdays.

all theyve done now is forced fans into buying updated firesticks and watching illegal streams.

now the club sees not a penny of the stream fee.

i spent hundreds on ifollow during the pandemic and wasn’t alone looking at the sales figures the club put up.

id rarely pay to go away as dont have the time or inclination to travel all day anymore, but a wham bam, fire up the Ipad or phone when about, then log off at 5 pm after a defeat, is much more preferable.

for balance, i know some that attend would revert to streams too, but would it be that many? The away crowd are hardcore fanatics that go for the day out in many cases. They’ll still go.

Nah, I wouldn't miss a City home game to watch that.
If it was live on Sky I'd record it to watch after the City match. Otherwise I'd just have to make do with highlights on MotD.

Is it the EFL call? From my understanding it is the FA after input from PL, EFL and none league.

I’m sure the PL would be all for deregulation as their TV income would increase if they could sell all the 3pm games to Sky/BT/Amazon or whoever.

So that means it is the EFL and none league blocking it. As those groups are lead by their members I would presume that more clubs think they would be hit by drops than not.

Obviously, but I don't see what that has to do with anything. I thought your argument was that by allowing fans of league 1 and 2 teams to watch games on ifollow, it would damage local clubs in the lower leagues?
