Have we actually paid a transfer fee for any of our new recruits?

 

No they're all out of contract signing's

 

No, but we have had 2 bids submitted for a striker. Not sure whether that is dead in the water now

I don’t mute contributors as I like a laugh , every evening is great thanks, especially knowing someone is going to work paying for my pensions. Whey hey!

I'm guessing he's not expected back yet with Adam's blessing , remember his season finished about three weeks after ours , so is probably still with the family, reckon we will hear by the weekend and training Monday

Looks like @Sergio Pinto III is right. 8 + Cook so room for another striker hopefully.

 

I don't think so.
Lee Angol is a very different type of striker from Cook. He's not a back to goal, hold it up, target man at all. He's front-facing, quick feet, nippy, take on a defender and get a shot away.
If we play 4 2 3 1 then I can't see where he fits into that. In a 3 5 2 or 4 4 2 he could play alongside Cook. In a 4 3 3 or 3 4 3 he could play as a wide striker. But I don't see him as a deputy to Cook at all.

 

Gareth Gates would be an improvement on him

 

At the time, yes. Hindsight is wonderful and he turned out to be well past his time, sadly. Exactly what you are doing (in reverse) by writing off all our signings this season before seeing what they offer. Judge them on the pitch and if they turn out to be pants I'll happily say you were right.

 

Seems Cook is classed as a club signing as here before Adams....

 

He still refuses to factor in Adams......NKP, Mellor, Stockton are all shite but who turned them into promotion winning players?

 

Most are happy with the Adams appointment because of his ability to get the best out of average players. Turning what looked like poor individual players at Morecambe, into a band of brothers that gained promotion. Hopefully if he gets us promoted we can start increasing the quality within the side. I’m looking forward to seeing how he knits this squad together and how he gets the bandwagon rolling.

 

The signings of kheller and to some extent Angol seem strange ones to me no nothing much about either so can't judge them yet I just hope they are players Adams wants rather than cheap players being given to him if that makes sense.

If he wants a squad of 24 that leaves one spot for Songo fingers crossed but in my estimation that leaves us woefully short up top and we'll get found out with injuries. I'm hoping that there's been some shift on the numbers front or we have a player or two exiting to bring in two more strikers hopefully one we can get a bit excited about.

 

The signings so far have been very Derek Adams if you get my drift, no stars and players who he thinks he can get more out of. But I do agree we look a bit short of spark (no pun intended) and my hope is the club has been clever and are saving the best till last, we need two more at least - definitely hoping Songo is one of them as we will then have options in midfield but we desperately need 1 more good striker on the books (and I cant see that Adams, Turnbull and Sparks dont know that!)
