Cook is a failed League One striker who is hit and miss at best, and it's clear to see why.

His best form has been at non league level, with some success in League Two.

At his age, it's midtable L2 fare.

Cook actually reminds me of The great Bobby Campbell, Just needs to put a bit more weight on.

I don't understand that either. Those who accuse him of having a poor attitude haven't expalined why they believe that's the case or shown anybody else their evidence. The nearest we have is from the club's unofficial spokesman that on one occasion Rowe had his hands on his hips.

On thing that perplexes me is that he does score goals and we've been in dire need of them recently when he has been on the bench. Instead T&S on one occasion moved Paudie into a striker's role and whatever Paudie's qualities, he is as likely to score a goal as I am at home watching the game! I wouldn't call Rowe a maverick but he certainly can pull something out of the hat. At times, late on in the game, a fresh Rowe might have been a better bet than a tired Paudie. And that's not a reflection on either of term; it's a surprising decision from T&S.

It's been said by Sparky that we wanted players at VP who wanted to play for the club and that attitude and presence in the changing is important. What's happened today appears to suggest that T&S (and probably Turnbull and Sparky as well) don't see him playing a role at VP in the future. If that is the case then they need to have a good look at the recruitment process which has got things so wrong that a player given an 18 month contract three months ago is now leaving us for a club in a lower division. There will inevitably be a huge turnover in players and maybe management staff over the summer with lots on new recruits arriving. I'd hate to think that we have a repeat of the Rowe saga by not learning from it.

All those who thought Rowe could play instead of Callum Cooke. As Delia would say 'Where are you'.

Didn’t he score nearly 20 goals in a poor Walsall team in league 1? The main reason Mansfield let him go was he was on a big wage, same with Maynard which is why even though Mansfield have an option it’ll be the same wage as before so I can’t see them renewing it. There will be takers though.

Bit harsh. Paudie scored the only goal of the game on Tues.

    Absolutley unreal this!!

how the hell do we manage to repeatedly give away the best natural strikers in the league

    DOYLE / VAUGHAN / ROWE

    unreal

Also, we were in for rowe’s strike partner Conor Mcleny, i was talking to him a few days ago about hooking up in the summer as his partner is good friends with my mrs, he did say there was interested but it obviously fell through, i hope we go for him again, hes been banging them in, and personally think he will come, hes got his head screwed on and clearly a very very good finisher

Cook and Canavan have been successful
Not sure about Vernam and Crankshaw, shown some good moments
Stevens and Rowe are a miss
Foulds and Burrell are pointless signings
    Huffer, only here as cover

So by your measure, ignoring Huffer, two hits from eight, a 25% success rate is a major success? With a supposed expert in charge of recruitment? Riiiight.

Would love us to go back for McAleny, far better all round player than Rowe, and the perfect foil in the number 10 role for someone like Andy Cook.

I did notice on tuesday when Watt was subbed he walked up the steps to the left of the dugout and walked straight past Danny who was sat on the end seat and neither of them even looked at each other where usually there would be at least a fist bump I would have thought, maybe this has been rumbling for a while, would imagine Danny being a nightmare at training...

Funnily it was mentioned in Radio L666ds commentary at the Arrugat game how Rowe was just stood by the corner flag doing nothing for most of the second half. Did he know then he was off?

It shows how far we’ve fallen as a club that a 32 year old non-league striker can cause so much wailing and knashing of teeth.
We brought him in, he showed some potential, knows where the net is, has a shot like a mule. Had little positional sense, rarely found space, had no speed or acceleration far too green to lead the line and far too old to learn. Well done to the club for taking a chance, didn’t work out, never mind, let’s go find better.....
Maybe the problem is our pre-sparks worry that the club will talk a good game, but complete with online fanfare and klaxon bring back Guthrie!!

I can’t agree more, but given our history of signing players. I’m not holding my breath. For such a successful window, we need a better one this summer.

Guthrie is a football league pro. Non league nobody Rowe shouldn't be mentioned in the same conversation as him.
