Trueman and Sellars - permanent deal

It's another strange statement though.

But we'll be told off if we speculate.

 

If they have someone lined up god knows where that leaves these two. We’ve now got the best form in the league over the last 10 games. They aren’t gonna be happy returning to the academy now, surely? They deserve the job full time on merit.

 

I know I mentioned it elsewhere but as much as we (generally) are impressed by their achievements, surely it is being noticed outside of VP?

 

I find it hard to believe that the likes of Rowe, Canavan, Vernham etc, would sign for a club if they weren’t told who the manager was going to be. In my opinion, Trueman & Sellars have or will agree to become the next permanent managers. There’s nobody more deserving of the role and it would a massive gamble and a travesty if they were relieved of their duties. Even Alastair Campbell couldn’t come up with a spin that would justify that one.

 

I just thought he was genuinely saying they deserve a cheer even if it only happened once, they deserve it. Didn't read anything into it, just thought it was a turn of phrase.

 

10 games in, 1 defeat and playing some good football. The naysayers quote various reasons, but at what time do we actually admit that these lads look like they know their stuff. If any experienced manager had come in and had this run we'd be rightly exclaiming the club had made a great choice, yet because of their lack of experience some still question their permanent appointment.
We really do need to get rid of this interim tag they are still saddled with.

@Botswana Bantam may be right, don't read anything into that statement - maybe it's not the statement that's strange, more the situation. Just give them the job. There is no question anymore, they deserve a go at this

 

There is another school of thought to consider about the ongoing interim period.

Perhaps Trueman & Sellars have indicated or even already turned down the opportunity to make it permanent, and are happy to hold the fort until the summer, and return to their Academy roles?

 

Surely with the ability they seem to have they have ambitions higher

I can’t see them being happy to do that. They have taken their chance with both hands. It’s like starting upper school, getting Straight A’s, then being told to go back to finish the year in Primary school!

I’ve been impressed with them both from the off and it was a Sparks masterstroke giving them the caretaker role. These last ten games have given us back what we want from City - passion, commitment, pride, and, most importantly, results. The best in the division infact.

If we appoint a new boss in the summer it won’t sit right with me.

 

It will with me and could be a smart move. You need to understand that you have to go for the manager you really want.

Yes, currently the managers have lost one game but again Bristol City had to sack their manager yesterday after 6 months. They is no rush in making an appointment but we need to get the right person.

Going up next season seems a must! It is a must!

 

Tell you what, if Sparks appoints somebody else, he leaves himself open to criticism.

I don't know how many would like T&S appointed full time but I'd imagine it's sizeable, remove T&S and the new man fails to deliver, oh Sparks.

The knives will be out.

 

What’s to say we won’t go up under these two?

we have appointed experienced managers in the past and they’ve flopped. Grayson was a top appointment at the time.

the proof of the pudding is in the eating - this group of players have better results under these two than any other side in the division.

so many managers cut their teeth at this level - primarily they are given a chance for financial reasons. Its nice to see us being that club unearthing prospects.

 

We havent. Derek Adams was the main target....he was the front runner and was waiting for our terms - all agreed between clubs. But T&S kept on winning.....

Its T&S and nobody else unless they refuse a deal. Trueman wants it but is happy to wait until end of season. The lads could name their price if the form continues...

Notable promotions in my lifetime were achieved with rookie managers. McFarland, Cherry, Kamara and Jewell

 

Loved the way Radio Leeds dispensed with their full names yesterday and decide to refer to them as Connor Trueman !

 

They were rookie managers but had proven themselves by being professional footballers, getting older and shouting at their team-mates on the pitch.

Trueman and Sellars can't match that, at a young age they devoted themselves to coaching. Sellars even went off abroad, seems a bit dodgy to me. Will they go 442 with a big man and little man up top? Seems unlikely, which is a big risk.

We can't trust people like that with tactics and developing players, especially when there are great candidates like Dean Windass, Gary Jones and Jamie Lawrence out there.

 

Well we are now in another generation and its rare rookie managers take teams up.
