I agree with all the above about FCD and it's good to see a local lad doing well. The trouble is he gets beaten 3 or 4 times a game creating dangerous situations for us and I think this has been picked up by some of our opponents. He also offers next to nothing in attack compared to Wood on the other side. So it's well done lad for now but Hosannah back for me, if he actually returns.

They may not be Pep or Klopp but still better judges than you or me Fordy. He's not pants at centre half but he's not had chance there. He isn't a right back of wing back but Finn is doing okay there anyway. The substitutions that we've made during this run haven't been at centre half of right back so he is bound to be an unused sub.

 

I'm not disagreeing, yes he'll probably end up moving on it he want regular football. Several good central defenders in front of him in the pecking order.

 

Not sure I've seen any "hype" to be fair. I just think he's a better fullback than FCD. That doesn't mean I'm suggesting he's irreplaceable.

 

People say that all the time but players like Geoff Thomas and Carlton Palmer still played for England.

Closer to home Stuart McCall even captained Zesh Rehman when the bloke clearly wasn't fit for professional football in England and more recently we're seeing it with DMH who amazingly had more game time under SM than Novak, Pritchard and Sutton.

 

And your point is....

 

Pretty sure politics played a huge part in Mr Rehmans presence in the team. He was up there with some of the worst players to grace VP.

 

Any official line on this?

 

Let's not forget this trio were missing through injury or suspension a large chunk of this season - along with many others.

 

Not sure why some fans obsess about the attacking intent of a full back. For me, especially in this formation, I want my full backs to be good defenders first, from what I have seen FCD had more defensive qualities than Hosannah. So for me FCD keeps his place on current form, even if Hosannah was fit

 

Of all the players to leave I had DMH to be the first. For him to still be at the club so late in January is a surprise to me. Either nobody wants him and he can't find a club or he's on peanuts and barely affects the budget. I suspect if we needed his space in the squad we'd just pay him up and release him.

 

I think the fact he is on the bench shows T&S haven't given up on him. If they had he would be nowhere near the bench, as per DMH and BRE

Normally i'd say get shut of players who don't contribute much but i'd persevere with French. He suffered under McCall in not having a permanent fixed role that he could develop into. It bugs the hell out of me when i see folk mentioning players can play here there and everywhere when in truth even though football is 22 blokes running round a pitch it is actually a very player role specific. Its how left backs become left backs and strikers become the old fashioned 9 and 10 roles. A good example is Levi Sutton. When he came there was talk of he could playright back or midfield. To me he is a central midfielder, i don't want to see his name mentioned with right back again. Same with Wood, i've even read on here at times he could play left midfield. No, He's a left back who has a welcome attribute of being able to put in a good cross or the occasional shot.
