He wasn’t alone, but to say he didn’t let the side down isn’t quite right. Under McCall, there were plenty letting the side down. Largely because of McCall’s approach, but nonetheless he was part of a defence that regularly shipped 2 or 3 a game. I think he needs a season of conference football.

 

These two are used to working with developing players so should know which ones are worth keeping and will improve while keeping an eye on those coming through, Young legs and old heads comes to mind

It's possible he or Dylan could leave I would have thought.

Sorry, but you are talking utter s***e. He is a good prospect, still young, has pace, comfortable on the ball. When he was playing he wasn't any worse than Paudie and Levi, who have been our best players over the last seven games. Improvement down to good management, which we have now in place.

 

He has been overtaken by an 18 year and we can't afford to have two prospects in a vital position.

He isn't good enough to stay. Get rid!

 

French isn't a right back nor a wing back which is where he was played under McCall, he is a centre half and on the few occasions he has played there he has done ok.

I also don't get the love in with hosannah tbh defending wise FCD is a better option and going forward is crossing is average at best the only thing he has that others don't is pace to get up.and down.

 

I hope FCD doesn't get dropped to the bench when hosannah is fit. Been very impressed with him lately and think he will be our first choice RB for years to come.hosannah did well in the wing back roll but we dont play that system any more. Not sure how hossannah wud fair in a back four

 

FCD has grown up with T&S, they know him as a guy in terms of his application and character. In their attention to detail. they'll also know what he does best and the areas of his game that need improvement - and I'm sure they're continuing to work on that with him. It's down to his desire. And he seems to have plenty of that. Lest we forget, the kid's only 18 - he's still got plenty to learn. But increasingly, his performances show that he's desperate to improve himself. Let's hope that this young man does.

 

And also let's not forget that the most promising crop of young kids we've had for years - FCD, Scales,Staunton et al - have all come or been developed by Trueman and Sellars. THEY know football!

 

Hosannah is well in front of FCD in terms of development. He's also a natural modern full back which I'm not sure will eventually be FCD's main role.

That said, it's FCD's position to lose and given that he's our player I'm delighted that he's being given the game time he needs to develop.

 

I don't rate French as a right back or right wing back, you don't rate him at all and that is your right. However he is a centre back and the management team will decide whether he is worth persevering with and to be honest he hasn't had opportunity to play there.
I think Trueman and Sellars are better judges than you or me Fordy. They will probably feel they have got enough cover at centre half anyway with Canavan, Paudie O'Connor, Reece Staunton and possibly even Anthony O'Connor.

 

There's been a lot of work done to improve the youth setup at the club the past few years so the results of that may be starting to show
