Exactly. We need to be thinking just that going into this window, what's the point in settling for less when the potential is there for more? Granted it might not result in promotion but while there is still a chance, it should never be given up on.

Maybe. It did seem slightly out of context but having a loan player for each position ...?

I guess it's a case of covering all bases. If certain targets don't come off, you have other options to fall back on.

I can't understand how this can be a question or surprise.

It's 2020, English football is worth billions of pounds a year, it costs millions to run a League Two side, and the idea that having a database of players and a good knowledge of rival clubs is revolutionary just boggles my mind.

Lee Turnbull has been in recruitment/scouting roles for a long time now, whether his judgement is fantastic or not might be a question, but that he will have an excellent and professional knowledge base can't be in question.

I would expect the club to potentially hold an interest in hundreds of players; narrowing it down to those who are likely to be available, interested, and realistic is the real skill, but even so, there has to be a lot of names of suitable candidates. Injuries can happen at any time, and needless to say, so can 'illness' at this particular point in time. I'd expect us to loan up possibilities in EVERY position.

    Mate, don't go there.

We didn't beat a poor Port Vale side. Sneaking into the play offs means nothing unless you can win it. This season has to be about building now after the mess at the start of the season.

    I agree.

We failed to properly prepare for the season, and it remains a disastrous campaign.

Even while the division remains a poor one, getting to 18th in the table has felt like a minor miracle - a complete transformation of form.

Are we suddenly going to rattle off wins over the top 7 sides?

I don't necessarily disagree but are you simply talking about a loan defender, midfielder, striker or getting more specific? In which case, we're heading back to the idea of half a squad of loanees rather than our own players - or at least decent enough players to be happy in such a big squad.

I think what Turnbull was saying is he wants to give the management team the choice when looking for a player in any position of either a permanent signing a loan player or an under 21 which because it’s obvious you are not always going to be able to bring in your first choice.

We did everything but score on a tricky pitch, Hornby didn't have a save to make. Had we have had better attacking options we would have won that game. Fordy, this division is woeful, it won't take much to get promoted. We've got rid of the main reason we were so bad, why not push the boat out?

I'm saying that in every window, multiple quality targets should be identified for every position as a minimum.

While this sounds ridiculously obvious, the fact is City have been found wanting in this department - for example, with the departures of Doyle and Vaughan last January. It's not acceptable to not know who to sign in case of an injury/player wanting to leave/illness/anything else.

I don't think that's what it means at all. Just because you have potential loan targets for every position doesn't mean you are going to fill every position with loan players. It is about having options to cover all eventualities and makes complete and utter sense to me.

Should always aim high we have come from wondering where the next point or even goal was coming from to expecting to win every game. So improve the team and go for it

Thats how far we've progressed in a month, a point would have been viewed as a good result 3 or 4 weeks ago, now its two points dropped because we should have won. A complete turnaround in the mental approach to this teams outlook and something Trueman and Sellars should but applauded for.

Mate, the division was woeful last season.
The division is woeful this season but so are we.

BRADFORD CITY ARE A WOEFUL SIDE!!! Lets have some truth here.

We sit 18th! Talk of getting in the play offs at this moment is stupid:

    1) We don't have a full time management appointment.
    2) We have a novice CEO
    3) We sit 18th
    4) Unfortunately, no fans allowed in VP.
    5) Our squad is poor
    6) No real match winners
    7) No leaders
    8) No identity
    9) Rupp
    10) BRADFORD CITY ARE NOT READY TO GO UP - SEE ABOVE!

Just telling it as it really is mate.

I would love us to go up but we are not ready.

Listening to Sparks he talks about next season a lot. I think the club knows its not ready to go up.

When we went up under Parky we had an identity, a plan. We don't now and if we went up we would come straight back down.

Look, things might change in 2-3 months but for now its just about building and creating.

Fair enough. I understood it to mean having all of those players in the squad. Perhaps you're right. I'll give it another listen.

For clarification I'm not saying we will go up. But I've seen a team gone from looking like conceding 5 a game to conceding 2 in 5. The only thing we currently lack is quality in the final third and back up to Novak. This season is not a write off despite posts on here to the contrary.

It is a write of though because its been a mess.

McCall claimed we had a top 10 attacking line up now you say we lack quality in the final third. It just highlights how disjointed we are.

We are not overtaking 11 teams to get into the top 7. I have seen nothing from us to think we are a play off side.

Lets get a full time manager in before anything.

McCall hadn't a clue, although he wasn't helped by the previous CEOs reluctance to bring in recruitment help. If you want to write the season off then go ahead, I'd prefer to see how far Trueman and Sellars can improve this squad with the January transfer window. All depends how ambitious we are.
