I still can't get my head around the fact that in the 6 months we've known Vaughan was off, we've only managed to speak to 4 potential replacements.

 

Absolutely correct it's such a frustration season upon season the way we go about business. I just wish the club would sign players to shut us up. Instead of signing players such as Will Keane who's failed everywhere he's been, I'd much prefer us to sing the lad at Palace and go for an upcoming striker such as Tshimanga at Boreham Wood or Jorome Slew from Maldon and Tiptree who tore Leyton Orient apart last season, who is also Sheffield born, without a club as wanted league football, so worth a look. I know there will be fans say oh but what about Ross Hannah not working blah blah blah, but for us now we need to stop this culture of buying past glory names. We need to reset and come into the modern game of spotting talent and it improving the club either in the league or financially.

We were always in a crap position with this salary cap because we had so many players leaving and new ones joining.

I reckon the teams that will do well this season and next are those with more settled squads because loads of players will be on "average salaries" for purposes of the cap and they can then possibly push the boat out for a couple of key/bigger signings.

It just doesn't feel like we've had a plan on how to build a squad within the confines of this cap. I get it that those on the edges of the first team and perhaps won't play much would be expensive to terminate or we wouldn't be able to send out on loan so we may be stuck with them but it's disheartening that we have clear holes in the squad and we've already started playing meaningful games.

 

Didnt you catch the post match interview with Stuart, he said any players we were trying to get would come once ths parent club allowed, saying we cant go to the likes of Arsenal and tell them we want there player now, that's not how it works.

 

So then you move on. We can't be at the mercy of other clubs forever, especially whilst games are going by and we're not winning them.

 

If we have committed to take a youngster from a Premiership or Championship club and then tell them dont bother unless we can have him now I'm not sure that would go down too well.
Great that clubs are prepared to loan us players but we must have known the details with regards when said player would be releast.
Obviously Stuart though we could wait until said player/players became available with what we have, in one of his interviews Stuart actually said both he and Kenny Black preferred to work with a smaller tighter squad.

I agree with you. The salary cap is a significant change which has a heavy impact. I would have been mithering the FA for weeks asking for detailed documentation and virtual meetings with them, the PFA and any other specialists so that we had the maximum amount of information available and new exactly what was going on.

It's not an excuse to say 'he didn't understand the cap' or 'got it wrong' because he wanted responsibility for hiring and firing so he is the single most important person that absolutely NEEDS to know everything about it.

 

True Bronco but our smaller tighter squad has a bit of dross contained in it. It is short of quality and this needs to be addressed. We have got rid of most of the Rahic dross but Bowyer added to it based on their performances and are still in the squad

 

We need to learn how to find them!
