Had a decent time at Fleetwood a few years ago. Was on £7k a week there so I was told.

As for Graham Carey...one that got away. Two years ago Alan Nixon said he was ours if he wanted him. Opted for Payne on loan instead.

Good let them take the points deduction and miss out. In any case if they are looking at more big salaries it must mean most a lot of their squad are on peanuts

Seen Carey a few times a Valley Parade. Nowt better watching a skilful winger take a full back apart. Him and the lad Plymouth have now, Danny Mayor, would fit in well with McCalls posession based football.

He had a very good season at Oxford on loan from Everton and I believe we were looking at him but Fleetwood out bid us a little like they did with Jordy Hiwila, I always thought he was a winger, I think he was injury prone certainly at Fleetwood he was introduced late on games but he could be a match winner with his pace and trickery.

    His level.

He can now spend an hour trying to pick out a pass straight to the opposition away at Kings Lynn which is about his standard

Seems like league two transfers are picking up pace.
We however, are still looking for our socks and shinpads somewhere in the changing room.

It's frustrating but if we were intent on signing a sub par replacement for Vaughan I imagine we would have done so by now. I don't buy into the conspiracy that getting rid of Vaughan was purely a cost saving exercise, if we wanted to bring in a cheap replacement we could have done it by now. I believe that the club are trying to sign the best replacement that they can, whether they can afford to pay his wages or whether he will agree to sign for us is another question entirely. I can see negotiations falling through due to wage demands and us then opting for a lesser target.

You missed Clarke but the point is that 2 of them were re-signings of players that were already here and 1 was the return of a player we had on loan last season so in terms of new additions, there have only been 3 (and one of those has been here twice before)!

God knows whats going on Norf but all I would say is I would rather we are working our nuts off to get the best we can, even if it takes a little longer, than getting a lesser option just to appease the pressure of the masses

Cooke and O’Donnell had opportunities elsewhere and both were free agents and could have moved on

But haven't we done that before? Chuck all our eggs in one basket, go all out for one particular player, fail to sign him, realise that all the other decent players have been signed up, and then end up bringing in two or three bottom of the barrel signings. Or is that just my pessimistic take on things?

I am clinging a bit to the fact the club, particularly after Doyle last season, must know how it is going to look to the fans if they bollock it up again - you can only fool people so often before the mud really starts to stick. One of the issues, as I see it, is what would appease the fans - would a player like Maynard or Agard who have scored goals but are past their best be better than a younger but lesser known player? I am still hoping we are going to do the best we can this time - but we as fans have to be realistic as to what would constitute a 'quality signing' at our level. Whatever we do the usual suspects will still say we are a club without leadership, a plan and ambition  Hang in there Tallinn, we may yet pull a rabbit out of the hat this time ;)

I still think Maynard would be a great signing he has Scored 35 over the last two seasons he was released by Mansfield because of his wages he is a good all around footballer as well and he is around the same age as Vaughan
