Connelly has his place in a squad. His pace is useful if you're playing on the counter attack late in the game against tired defenders or if you have a dark age manager like Bowyer whose entire game plan is boot it long and hope the fast lad does something.

However, if you're a possession based side, which I expect us to be, he's useless. Most teams will sit deep, leaving no space in behind and you need players with technical quality to break them down. Connelly's final ball is very poor so he offers nothing in that regard.

I'd take him back as a squad player, for instances where he would be useful, but McCall has already given the roadrunner role to DMH, which leaves no space anymore for connelly.

 

I'd say out of both of them, they both have pace and Connolly is probably faster. However i think DMH has better crossing abilities and in league 2 a good delivery is worth it's weight in gold. Look at how Doyle was delivered to every week at Swindon and the dross he got here. I can't seem to really remember Connolly whipping the ball in, however from what I saw of DMH he did put a few good crosses in when he got the chance to play. Added to that he is a home grown player I think.

I don't think he's anything like good enough so far. Nothing stands out about him. He is half the player Connolly is, and Connolly us just an athlete.

We released him a few years ago, he played some reserve games at a place that trained up Omari Patrick, then we signed him again.
