But he never had another go at Rahic that he joined Shrews instead (unless you can prove otherwise). It was a side-swipe at the likes of Dennis (and others), who claimed no club could sign a manager/HC is less than 2wks

 

I believe he recently said in an interview that he wanted a break and hadn’t been putting himself forward for jobs? He only started looking at vacancies this week

I’m not sure exactly what PPs bad run was and when this started/ended. However, there was a spell of 4 wins in 29 games in that 2013/14 season. During that period we lost 12, drew 13 and won just 4. Hardly impressive and is contrary to your “many draws” claim.

You also knock McCall’s Home record from this season. Agree it was poor (6 from 15 games), but when compared to PPs record in the above season (8 in 23), it isn’t actually as bad as this was.

So, according to Edin (In todays T&A), City are close to making an appointment. Yet the sacking of Heckingbottom appears to have delayed any decision. Wow ........ That'll keep this thread going for a day or two ......... Page 200 getting closer by the minute !

You take things out of context. The overall season after promotion we finished comfortably in the top half of the table. Yes we had a run without winning but we drew plenty of games.now toddle off

Looks like a very thorough process, several meetings with the same applicants. They want to get it right.

 

Reading the T&A this morning, Edin has outlined a more complex interviewing process which involves several discussions with prospective candidates. Thorough, we will see whether it means you don’t have to keep sacking the managers. What I do like, although very different is that the players are not signing for the coach or manager but they will be signing for the club and the philosophy.

 

Yes, they have had more time on this occasion to do this. McCall was a bit of a hasty appointment based on recommendations, as they were new to the club and country, and timescale involved due to the size of squad left as they were approaching pre-season training.
I personally have no issue with them for taking their time and meeting several candidates and more than one meeting per candidate that interests them.
Be interesting now though to see whether Heckingbottom's availability throws a spanner in the works, if he is interested.

Does this statement take the onus away from getting promoted if the development of players is good? Although we all want to go up asap, I think the owners want to go up when we have a squad capable of surviving in the championship with minimal expenditure.

He didn't say that any manager suddenly becoming available would delay the decision he simply said he's not ruling out someone new they haven't yet spoken to.

What I did like is that it feels they've gone about it in a more professional way then when they spoke to Stuart and a couple of others and made a decision - so they said. They comment on the two years of experience now and the importance of getting the right person.

For me the article reads well. Just hope they get the right person.
