Well then we will have to wait for a vaccine because allowing people in on a discriminatory way is a non starter

The government will set the amount of fans allowed in. The hope Bradford and other lower league team have is that the PL will be pushing no for fans to return ASAP but it might be reduced.

So, it could start with 5k-8k fans then work its way up.

No club or government will say this group of people can't come in but I but that is what' will happen at first. No over 70's will be allowed or it will be limited to 1 or 2.

You can not deny some fans many of whom have been supporters for decades. It has to be their choice. Either first come first served or rotation or by lottery

I read that the average football ground seat is around 22 inches (55cm) wide. Have a think about it. That seems about right to me. If that is the case and I want someone to sit at least two metres away then there would need to be a 4 seat gap. That means 1 in 5 seats taken up in each occupied row. Not 1 in 3. So already we are down to 20%.

It has been suggested earlier that we need to leave at every second row empty. Think about how far away the one in front of that actually is. I would be surprised if you could keep two metres away even on the next row down but go with that. We're down to 20% on each row and now we have taken every second row out. That means we're at a maximum capacity of 10%. A long way off 25%.

That was just a number plucked out of the air by a politician. If we want to get 25% into stadiums then the government is going to have to change the two metre rule. Otherwise forget it.

It sounds like I am being negative. I want football to start again. I want people to be able to go to the match but there needs to be a lot more thought going into it before it can happen.

Absolutely right although I'd suggest that to meet the current 2m distance would still require 2 rows in three to be vacated. That reduces the available capacity to about 8% of total capacity. That's one supporter using the space currently allocated for 12. Even if the social distancing requirements were reduced to say 1m as politics takes a greater hold over scientific advice, it still reduces the capacity to about 16% with 2 seats between supporters and every other row left vacant. Or if you like, 1 supporter occupying the space previously occupied by 6. At VP that would mean a usable capacity of less than 4,000 seats for all fans.

And that's before clubs have to consider how social distancing is maintained in toilet areas, around kiosks and some kind of one way system to access the seating areas and how the entire regime is policed and what if anything has to be done at the end of the game as we all exit the stadium together. Imo, we'd all better get used to not watching football at VP for many months to come unless there is a major about turn by the Govt on any form of social distancing.

If there really is a workable plan to get fans safely into stadia to watch live football whilst maintaining social distancing, I'd put money on the Bundesliga to be leading on this. At this stage, there's no evidence of that.

All of these numbers are irrelevant to me though. At my age Fordy's midgets will have me frog-marched off Manningham Lane before I even get to the samosa shop. If I ask nicely though they might let me in the shop first. I can take them home for tea instead. The samosas that is, not the midgets.

Thanks for the backing Fordy. Look I absolutely do not like the idea of barring anyone. But if lower League football is saying its all in or none in then its Game Over for every club south of League 1 and probably them as well. The life blood in the dog end of football is US ! We pay the wages and the bills unless Rupp divvys up ??.

So we all have to face up to watching City in slightly different way to start the new season. Ryan Sparks in todays statement is hinting at needing to start planning for next season ! Getting tickets on sale being part of the plan.

Look I do not claim to have all the answers I just tried to imagine how we could make it work temporarily for all of us in the circumstances heeped on us. If the club are not already developing an innovative forward thinking plan to get as many of us back in our seat as safely possible then I would be staggered ?

You're possibly right. The issue I have with that is that at two metres you can see a decent gap. In the street. In the shops. At the match. One metre, in my opinion, is neither here nor there. Except when you are sat in your seat and nobody is sat next to you. Trying to get past people on the way out to the toilet. On the way to get a half-time tea. Being the person that just has to leave early to get to the front of the bus queue. None of these really work even at two metres. So no chance at one metre. I really think it's two metres or not at all. September? Maybe. Hopefully.

The government doesn't seem to be moving on this 2m rule. Think it would have changed by now. Pressure is coming on them to change it from the pubs & restaurants but I just don't think they will. It will be 2m or nothing as you say.

That's disregarding family groups though, who in theory, could all sit next to each other. Thay would certainly push the number back up towards the reported 25%
