Imagination needs a budget like any form of innovation, you can't do it for free. Got to remember Bradford City is a small business in turnover terms, there is very little in terms of staff behind the scenes. The guys behind the scenes put a lot of effort in but Bradford is what it is, a working class area with a product which is a very hard sell.

Perhaps, but I think the colour coding of the grass is a revolutionary idea. I'm looking into patent pending as we speak.

Joking aside, its normally done with bricks in a wall, or own your old seat etc.
Can't see why it can't be done with the pitch.

Laphroig whisky do it with each bottle sold. Your register your purchase and you get to own a 1 foot plot of land on the island of Islay.

We have the best sports turf research organisation in the country in the Bradford area I wonder if it was possible to have some sponsorship tie up with them to help with re turfing the pitch

You could be onto something there, the betting idea on box sections of the pitch. sending offs, bookings, goals etc, Someone will do this.

    Worth a shout Park
But that would be "selling" the club to outside investors
Even without a budget it takes one conversation to ask the question
Sales and marketing have a unique product to sell with imagination there is only one

What I'd expect to happen is, as the drop in Season Ticket sales starts to bite, we'll see articles from the club about how they're 'committed to improving the playing surface in the summer' and how the McBurnie windfall in the summer will help. It'll sound great, but itll lack specifics around the level of investment or longer term benefits.

Then, in 12 months time when its crap again, we'll have articles which harp back to the financial damage done by Rahic, how the Money we received in the summer was crucial in being able to give the likes of Akpan and Anderson new contracts, and how reeeeaaalllly fixing the pitch is properly hard and expensive.

STRI who I suspect you are referring to is a genuinely world leading sports turf adviser and highly regarded in the sporting world. They've worked on at least two Olympic games and have advised on Twickenham, Wimbledon, race courses and many other sites around the world.

As this shows, they helped Spartak Moscow with their pitch in even more extreme conditions than we ever face ...

    https://strigroup.com/case-studies/fc-spartak-moscow/

They have advised the club on three occasions to my knowledge on what type of pitch is best given our situation. Their fibrasand system they designed several years ago is what was relaid two years ago when the surface drainage issue was supposedly fixed. Unfortunately as they've advised the club in the past, there is an underlying drainage issue deep down and not just with the surface drains. And that has not been resolved simply because it would cost an awful lot of money and time to do it.

We have to be realistic. Given the prestigious nature of some of their clients, I'm not convinced that sponsoring us would be a priority for them. Can you imagine the response if they invited prospective clients to watch a game on our pitch?

I'm not sure it would be 'selling' the club to outside investors when we don't own the stadium or pitch anyway. If the club could get outside finance to pay at least some of the cost of improving the playing surface, it surely has to be worthy of consideration?

but what happened to the company that did the work in the summer? They were all over our social media with videos and the like? Surely there must be some sort of guarantee we have with them?
I head a rumour they went bust - is that true?

With the way betting dominates football these days, I wouldn't be suprised if its already been talked about.

    Absolutely
We should be selling the brand Bradford City
Not bricks and mortar or even grass that's in short supply
Its a unique selling opportunity we need to maximize our potential
We may well be doing that but not seen much evidence

Have we invited them to become part of the 'Bantams Family', thereby rendering all payment for services provided as being accepted through the currencies of magic beans and happy thoughts?

The closed season will say a lot about Rupp's commitment and the reality of him trying to get us back to where we were when they purchased the club.
Past history suggests you may be right, for me Stuart has to be given a good player budget and the pitch need doing, it looks very much like he has used the McBurnie money to recoup his losses under Rahic but someone some how has to tell him if he wants to get anywhere near his original investment back we have got to be where he says he wants us to be, a league one club challenging for palace in the Chapionship, and a good playing surface to give the footballing side a chance to achieve his statement.
I'm not sure we have that person to tell him in real terms what's required unfortunatly.

Unfortunately they turned the once-in-a-lifetime offer down. But at least we tried to get the world's pre-eminent sports turf advisory firm to join the family and we were nearly successful! ;)

So wouldn't them putting our playing surface right be a great advertising ploy.
I've no idea what the cost would but if they wouldn't do it all with regards sponcorship they give us a discount the rest being their companys sponsorship for X years ?

STRI have been involved on at least three occasions with 'putting our surface right'. Why do you think relaying the pitch again would be any better? They have plenty of higher profile clients around the world to showcase their skills.

I suggest you re-read my post especially the bit concerned with the drainage issue.

As they are specialists we would hope they would get to the bottom of our problem and put it right once and for all, what better way of advertising your product.

The problem I have with a Rupp taking back his losses (payoff to Rahic) is that we wouldn’t be in this mess but for the complete mismanagement of the club during Rahic reign. He was his partner and responsible for the financial backing, so although he states or at least I think he does that he didn’t know what was going on, it was his job to do just that. So the club has to suffer because our collective owners couldn't manage the fairly successful club the bought. So yes it his club, but he also has a responsibility to put us on an even keel as he found us. That pitch was a total embarrassment yesterday. Come and buy your ST at Bradford City and see what a complete wreck we have become.
