I don’t want to be alarmist or over dramatic but I cannot help thinking tomorrow is going to be a hell of an important day in the long history of our club. It could still go either way but without that statement signing we could be at the start of a further downward spiral. Several season ticket holders I know are saying they ain’t gonna renew - and that on a larger scale would be a major blow and undo all the good work of the cheap season ticket seasons in building up a fan base.

Let’s face it. You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to work out what’s happening here. Owner decided not to back after all in the transfer window and trying to save money asap with the 2 highest wage earners being released
This is really a very dire time to be a CITY fan and worry so much for the future of the club at this present time

im not sure this is a cost cutting exercise as we had two unhappy players, what I am sure is it’s an almighty *@?$ up without bringing in adequate replacements, only bcfc could do that.

It’s going to be hard to get a decent striker in in January unless we dig really deep and that ain’t gonna happen.

Not fair on Rhodes if two players put their cards on the table and say they want out and dont want to play here. Bowyer has a contract that would require funds to shift. Maybe this was the most sensible thing to do.

Sorry but is it not the Managers job and his team to get the best out of his players especially 2 forwards which are so desperately needed !

That's absolutely right. I, too, know several people who have just given up attending and are not far from sacking the club off for the foreseeable future.

Further funds from Rupp? Further would imply he’s already put money in wouldn’t it?

    In isolation yeah.

However who was chairman when we had a strategy to overspend in August but then cut costs/generate revenue in January if there was no cup run?

What’s alarming is the fact that we’ve left it so late in the transfer window to replace arguably our 2 best players. If there wasn’t enough time to replace them they should have stayed it’s as simple as that.

It’s also not fair on the players, because they’re the ones that have to deal with the sh*t coming from the stands if we go further downhill as a result of these recent outgoings / lack of replacements, even further demoralising the squad.

The whole club is in complete disarray at the moment, it feels like we’ve just gone back to Square 1.

It looks to me like they’ve decided to cut their losses and wait until the summer when other big earners will be off the books. Their idea is probably this squad should be good enough to sneak into the play offs and that in itself will be good enough to keep supporters on side. I had a look on line and apparently the German economy is just coming out of ‘technical recession’ whatever that means. It might have a bearing though on our owner’s cash flow etc. He doesn’t exactly splash it around on his football project.

Just think he's as bad as Edin if not worse mate.

Believe them two were in it together but at no point he was interested in putting in his money and improving us. We are going backwards and will go further backwards unless we get him out.

If you think about it which proven or even potential goal scorer is going to be allowed by his club to leave tomorrow or would want to come unless really big money was changing hands. Wouldn’t he say to himself if Doyle can’t score there what chance have I got. If there was one already lined up why leave it while the last day? And if there isn’t one lined up how do we find one - presuming we are looking - tomorrow? I mean whoever thought it was a good idea to HAVE to sign a striker on deadline day. Absolutely bonkers! If we were going to get rid of players we should have done it early doors. BONKERS!

L.o.n.g thread but how many have actually said that they are gutted to see the back of Doyle & Vaughan?

With Donaldson back we now need a "Wells", hopefully we'll get one in and Oteh & Patrick will have to step up too, neither Doyle or Vaughan were a "Wells" and on good money, I am totally not bovvered that they've gone, both 31 and couldn't hold a candle to Peter Thorne in productivity and he was what? 34/35 when he pitched up?

Imagine the unrest if a lad fresh from a substitutes role at Harrogate Town turns out to be our major signing. I hope he’s not coming in for an outgoing Connolly. Let’s hope Jim White brings us some good news tomorrow.

Unless I'm wrong, I think you'd like to see the back of Rupp. I hope I've understood where you're coming from and I'm not misrepresenting you ;)

Only recently, you agreed after some persuasion that Rupp wouldn't simply leave VP with nothing and that it would take upto £6mill to buy him out. Simply repeating 'Rupp out' won't do it. How then do you expect to raise the £6mill which 'will get him out' using your words?

After tomorrow I think he should take 2m.

He needs to take a big loss now. He just needs to leave mate.

I'm just concerned we have 14k soft lad fans.

I say to fans don't buy your season ticket any time soon!

I admire your optimism but where are we going to find ‘a Wells’ tomorrow? Seriously?! And he’d cost twice as much tomorrow than in the summer. It’s like when you’re losing two nil with five minutes to play. You know it’s not going to happen but you keep hoping.
