Who is talking about Doyle?

 

They haven't shown it, but it could make a good partnership - zero chance we're dropping Vaughan though.

 

For the avoidance of doubt, Trevor wrote “Donaldson and Doyle would make a good pairing with plenty of goals”, to which Faithful Bantam rightly pointed out “Not the way we play”. You then responded by saying “They have already shown they are (a good pairing?)”, hence the confusion

 

They weren't very effective when they played together at Birmingham either.

 

However, the league is so poor that they and with Doyle should be enough to get us up and then we kick on from there.

Aye. That deficit won't look after itself.

 

The Doyle one is genuinely one to ponder. On one hand, it might seem an obvious thing to recall him, given his form and how hard we seem to make scoring goals.

But..... we've seen how Bowyer uses him, and how he plays football. There's every likelihood that even if he came back and was in the right frame of mind, goals wouldn't flow freely. And assuming that Swindon would fall apart might be flawed too - they'd have ~£3k a week back available to go and find someone, and they'd be an attractive proposition right now too. Doyle is out of contract in the summer and you'd think he's looking to move on.

Should we be able to get £100K for him now AND free up another £3k per week in wages, you're talking about being able to go and get 2-3 players who might be better suited to how Bowyer wants to play. That might actually be a better move - though likely more unpopular.

 

Personally, I think its nailed on that Cooke will go back to Peterborough in January. Now that Reeves is back and he's brought Taylor in - I think cooke going back and Taylor staying till the summer is likely.

 

I wouldn't bank on Rhodes reinvesting 100k

 

Cooke is twice the player that taylor is but the latter is Bowyers mate so you're probably correct.
