Go on i'll bite. Bowyers got his tactics spot on? You having a fcking laugh? Up until the penalty it was like having root canal work done, it was painful. It was only because the worst team i've seen to visit Valley Parade for an age practically gave us a goal on a plate. I don't mind giving credit where it is due, and three points is minimum requirement at home, but that game yesterday was bloody awful. Difference is Park you're happy whatever happens, i demand a hell of a lot more from my side, especially in league 2.

    100%..

One of the reason we're in div two is because certain fans have a losers mentality with low expectations.

Didn't notice if they were Welsh police who were walking then down Nestfield Street but it was far from regimental in fact thinking about it they looked to be having a bit of banter with them as they walked past, I presume to get back on a coach.

That is the biggest load of tripe yet, from you Fordy …..

HOW in the Hell was ANY fan responsible for last seasons relegation ? To a man (and woman ;) ) each and every fan had high hopes at the start, and not ONE could or should be held responsible for what transpired.

This season, many predicted one of struggles, others mid table, and equally those who demand / expect Auto promotion. We are currently in a PO position, with an Auto spot well within reach - Which we all desire and hope for. So please do most of us a favour, and bite your tongue until at least April.

I actually agree with Fordy, to a large extent. We get the club we deserve. We tolerate mediocrity, we value 'getting stuck in' over flair, we have little real ambition and seem obsessed with keeping it cheap.

We're a small club, we just get large crowds.

We won in spite on Bowyer yesterday, not because of him. His tactics are so dull, we're playing with the handbrake on. We created NOTHING in open play yesterday. No way is Eoin Doyle coming back to play in a setup like that.

We changed our system to match up against the opposition. At home. Against a mid table side below us in the league. I'm not on board with that. Our performances are regressing.

We have the players to play attacking football, entertaining football. But we don't.

Sometimes you need to grind out a win when you're not playing well but it seems like Bowyer is actually trying to engineer a playing style of that type. I guarantee that his two favourite games this season were yesterday and the win at Stevenage.

He must be doing something right. Best home record in league 2, 2 points of autos with a game in hand, all achieved with numerous injuries we have had to overcome.

I am not a happy clapper by any means, and yesterdays game was painful to watch, but I am confident he will get us out of this awful league at the first attempt

Agree totally with those saying it was poor yesterday. Ok we worked hard Oteh in particular never gave up running and of course Reeves bossed midfield. But take away the penalty and it was turgid against the worst of a lot of "worst visting teams' at VP this season ! We need to do more than that in a game at home or surely ? Still we meander on looking nothing like a promotion side ? Or maybe thats it ! Maybe we just keep meandering on until this dreadful season reaches its welcome end in May and somehow we've bungled back into League One ?

I don't think it was so bad since we are not used to playing 5-3-2 and not every team will timewaste from the kick-off. It would have been 2-0 but for a great save onto the crossbar. It was not pretty to watch but we will get promoted if we can restrict every opposition team for the rest of the season to just one shot on target.

Wood's crosses were rendered ineffective by their big centre backs but not all defenders will be so big. Reeves excellent corners will also produce more goals against smaller sides and he played a few dangerous balls through between centre-backs for Oteh who might have got a goal on a better day. We've complained about the lack of such passes for a few years as forward after forward has underperformed for lack of service. I think this formation suited Oteh and he will get better if he starts shooting instead of taking too many touches.

Newport were a decent side that came to try kill the game, with some success. Excitement is rare against such teams. It was a deserved win and much better than playing well but conceding goals against the flow of play as we have seen often enough this season. If we want auto promotion we need more clean sheets. I don't see why so many are moaning when Newport fans will have had a pretty dismal journey home with few positives to take out of the game.

Because you are one of those whose expectations are ridiculously high. One of those that says every team that turn up are there for the taking. Reality check we are in the pits league because we deserve to be. In the over 60 years I have been supporting the vast majority of the time it’s been like this because lower league football is like this. Newport didn’t have a single shot on goal for the ninety minutes as didn’t Macclesfield other than a penalty from a rash challenge.
This is what it will be like for the rest of the season the second division football is a game of attrition. If you hate that you would be better not bothering coming until we are back in league one next season

I thought Reeves was Reeves yesterday. Looks busy and wasn't that great. In fact he was dropping far far too deep to get the back off the defence to then just move the ball sideways.

In the second half his delivery from set play was top draw I give him that but his overall performance was standard.

He needs to do more! Move the ball forward and look up! Suppose this is way he plays in league 2 and the biggest club before us he has played for us Wimbledon! Looks a busy fool at times.

However, he's rightly ahead of Anderson and Devine because them two don't have the skill set required required for a top half div 2 club.

We were poor overall yesterday and I can understand people thinking he was MOTM because he looked busy and people get blinded by busy people in England but for me AOC or POC were MOTM as the Newport forwards didn't really get a look in all match.

I thought that yesterday's shape was 3-1-4-2 and was mighty effective in gettimg more of our available players into
the positions they consider their best positions.
I know from good authority that Callum Cooke believes he is a number 10 and although he loves playing at the club
he has been very frustrated at having to play the quarter back role .
Now Reeves is fit we can put Cooke back to an offensive, passing, creative role which does not require as much defensive work in the last third.
Reeves as the one in front of the back line was outstanding especially given how much he has missed.
Oteh as a wide second stiker had his best game at VP and contributed well to the offensive work.
Getting Paudie back into the team also suited our revised shape.
All round I was happy we got the 3 points but saw much progress in the team play.
By the way the crowd noise in the second half made a massive contibution to the team at a time when we got on top
of them and the goal came as a result of the increased noise. Every one can take a bow for that!!

I don't understand the fuss. We are a league 2 side. We aren't going to be able to play free flowing expansive football. We aren't light years ahead of other sides in this league in terms of our squad so you'd better get used to wins like this. Yes it was uninspiring but what is encouraging is that the result was never in doubt. We set up to be secure. The reality is we play that system against a mid table side and you are guaranteed a win. We play that game another ten times and the result is the same. We set up to go for the jugular and sure we might win 5-0 but equally we could get hit on the break and see it go tits up.

Sometimes pragmatism pays. It's about setting up guarantees but sure some of you know better. If we play like that every home game we will see the same return every time. Newport have some very capable players at this level (Amond, Matt, Dolan) yet we never looked in doubt.

Reeves was outstanding. Some of you need to understand that this is league Two. If you want your centre mid to collect, distribute, dictate the pace AND be a consistent attacking threat you'd best understand that this mythical being is not available at this level. We keep Reeves fit and on form and we go up automatically.

Reeves wasn't outstanding at all and if you think a DM player is going to gain us an automatic spot then you need to see someone. Feel free to talk to people on here if you need help.

Shame there aren't more people on here these days to talk to about the football. I strongly suspect that most have been driven away by boredom having to read your inane, pointless attention seeking drivel on every single post. Keep up the good work...
