He’s scored twice as many as expected so far based on his xG (Mark O’Haire’s twitter stats this morning). He’ll do well to sustain his current form. Same for his overachieving club.

Let’s play devils advocate, City fans.......

Imagine Doyle carries on scoring and is top league scorer by Jan.

Would you rather sell him and use the funds to sign Connolly and Cooke permanently (and maybe even Devitt) or would you recall him and not tie down any of the loanees at the end of their deal?

And realistically what are they going to pay? In 6 months he could be worth double or even treble what he is now.

City have the McBurnie money for investment. Its not like we are desperate for a Doyle fee.

As much as I have been advocating a recall for Doyle. I would rather sign Cooke and Connolly if that was an option. Two young promising players you could see doing a job in league 1 for us eventually

We may not be financially desperate (Yet every penny generated is welcome), it's more a case of what suits in football terms, and what it could mean to City in particular. Six months time takes us to the seasons end, which is when Doyle will be out of contract ..... So his value then will mean nothing to us.

I honestly thought we had an option of a third year.... could be wrong then.

Anyway, cant put a price on promotion. Get him back and scoring for us and offer an extension.

    Let Doyle feel loved...

And if you are Doyle, are you really going to let a team pay for your services when you are 31, the highest scorer in the country and available for free in 6 months?

In July he can name his price. Lots of L1, even low end Championship teams may take a punt if he scores 25-30.

He can have that transfer fee as a signing on fee. His last big contract...

Not wishing to state the obvious, but you can only sell him to us (if you want to). He can’t play for any other club this season apart from yourselves and us. I hear he is Cup tied this weekend - whether that means anything I don’t know. Tbh, I’ll be glad when it’s January and it’s all sorted one way or another. When he and Scannell were offloaded it enabled Bowyer to bring in 6 other players by saving on their wages.

Still, you’re doing well enough without him, maybe Bowyer won’t want to upset the squad by recalling him. Anyway, I hope you carry on doing well.

If you look back, that was my preferance, bringing him back.
The above was testing Swindon"s resolve, if they want to keep him they stump up his full wage.
Another situation that @Storck@Storck has put forward that has plenty of merit is leave him their and let him be part on the Swindon team that beats our play off rivals.

He is out of contract in the summer. Losing him in January could derail them so they may be prepared to pay over the odds to keep him

I posted similar with regards selling him to another club until someone pointed out Doyle has already played for us and Swindon so he can't play for a third club this season.

I'd have thought if they could have afforded to sign him at the beginning of the season they would have. Can't see them paying over the odds in January when they can get him for nothing at the end of the season.

Just tell them they can keep him to help their promotion push but they pay 100% of his wages, I don't think that is unreasonably, they can work a deal out with the player whilst there with regards his future.

Is Doyle a season long loan ........ I ask, as folk are talking about recalling him, in January - Which would suggest he is. Therefore - If on an agreed season term, CAN City ask for more, from Swindon ?:)

I sincerely hope we bring him back. even if he doesn't keep up the same form, at least he wouldn't be banging them in for Swindon.

Offer him an 18/30 month Contract now and he can be yours. At the end of May, he might leave us, but he may also choose to go somewhere else altogther, rather than Swindon. If you like him, make him and us an offer we cannot refuse.

That's the most viable comment I've seen on here regarding him.
If we can do it, then great.
It may be a case of bluff and double bluff, as Swindon may also be aware we can't afford to bring him back paying all his wages. I can't see Swindon paying all his wages
The stand off will be interesting come January.

However, does all seem rather convoluted expensive option to try bring a player back, that clearly doesn't want to be here, to stop Swindon goals rush.

Wellens is giving a presser about now re Saturday’s game. No doubt he’ll be asked about Doyle. Whether he’ll answer it is another matter!

I agree, the sensible outcome would be us to cough up, say, £50,000 and get him on a perm. If I were making the decision from Bradford’s angle that would have to be a take it or leave it option.

Obviously, I have no idea regarding your budget and whether him returning (and his wages) would be a no go. I wonder if Doyle had turned out to be useless for us whether we had an option to return him and stop paying his wages. I doubt that.

Here’s the answer posed to Wellens

I'm not sure there is any secrecy per se, Doyle's loan will have a recall clause - as most do - and there are no plans for Bradford to recall him.

Though there will be a review period in January, so only time will tell. But as I understand it, Town fans have no reason to worry about Doyle heading back.’

That from a local journo conducting the presser.

I think it will be a situation that we wont think about until January comes around. I'm sure it's in Bowyers mind but I don't imagine he'll be having any discussions with our board or doyle himself until the time comes.
