I agree with you about Oteh. Like you I thought he put a real shift in. I don't think there was anything wrong with his goal, side on from the Midland Rd it looked as if he chested it in. He made the opportunity for Vaughan to score the second and kept on going out on the wing after Cooke was sent off.

No complaints about the sending off. It was a daft challenge to make when on a booking and just after the first sending off.

 

It was a funny old game, as I posted the best footballing side I've seen at Valley Parade this season, a good job they were poor in the final third, their right winger Williams gave both full backs a bit of a tough time today even when he changed wings he looked comfortable either side of the pitch, Law run the show for them.
I thought BRE shaded it but O'Connor was a close second, Exeter won very little in the air but their movement with and without the ball was outstanding at times, we need Donaldson back asap although Vaughan never stopped trying he's not a target man, but credit to the lads they stuck to their task and got the 3 points.
Cooke didn't need to make the challenge the ball and Law were going nowhere, and knowing he was already on a yellow he should have just kept him wide, but it's easy from the stands.

 

Bowyer pretty much said after Cooke faces losing place in team now going forward if replacement plays well.

 

To be fair, I don't think he's got a lot to worry about.

 

Bad timing for Cooke after costing us against Port Vale.

 

Yeah they played some nice stuff and with Law had the best player on the field. But for all that they offered little goal threat. You will win more games in league 2 like today than any other way, its a division where battling displays will give you reward.

 

Very enjoyable game, Exeter are a good team no doubt which makes it a very good result.

Hard to comment to much on the game so much went on, but both teams should have scored more or in their case just scored.

 

In defence of Cooke, hes not a defensive midfielder. Hes been shoe horned into the role because hes the only one weve got who can dictate the play. He should be playing a similar role to how Law played for Exeter

We can say he's this or that or whatever but in short he's the best midfielder we've got or had for a couple of seasons!

Not defending the challenge, just making a point that if you take an attacking midfielder and stick him in a defensive role, that sort of thing is more likely to happen

 

It was a strange sort of game really. I thought we were absolutely awful in possession - exeter were aggressive whenever they lost the ball and we showed no composure whatsoever, ball retention was very very poor. However, it was a really good battling performance. We defended really well - Wood, AOC and BRE were superb and the clean sheet was much needed.

Oteh was an odd one, no idea how he got MOTM. Did some things well and some things poorly. Definitely an OG too.

Silly challenge Law was going nowhere !!.

 

Exeter were mediocre. Probably over tired after a long journey. Law did nothing to persuade me that we should have kept him.

 

And it's the FA Cup game against Shrewsbury which Peterborough might not have let us play him to Cup tie him, win win .

 

Must have been Oteh's best game for us, involved in both goals scored and when we lost Cooke put in a real shift defending out wide.
Getting harry Pritchard back made a difference for us and as mentioned Connor/BRE and AOC were superb.

City dont dominate games but the attitude is there and we are second?
What can i moan about?
