That and playing in a team who want to play football rather than hoofball.

Considering we don't play hoofball and play football, he could fit right in.

However, we've had a slightly better season so far, is that based on the goals being more evenly distributed throughout the team rather than relying too heavily on the forwards...?

People can get obsessed with having a high scoring striker - but didn't we sign Mickey Boulding from a relegated club after he scored an insane number of goals? Perhaps Mansfield would have survived if they didn't have Boulding but instead had more even distribution? (or just a better side)

I definitely think he would score goals for with the way we play, whether that's part of a front two or on his own.

I expect, but may be wrong, that due to finances we will never find out, but as long as we finish above Swindon (and preferably progress beyond them in the play offs if need be), then I'm happy with that.

Swindon can even afford to take him off after his hat-trick.

19 now with Doyles hat-trick, as I say both on loan, Rotherham Yeats parent club might see what he's doing at Swindon and recall him, both strikers gone that would surly put a spanner in the works ;).

That's a risk which I certainly wouldn't be taking if I was Stefan. We've got an opportunity to significantly weaken a rival whilst enhancing our own attacking options, it's a no brainer for me and whilst it'll cost us to bring him back it improves our chances of promotion which is the number 1 priority rather than saving a few grand a week.

So that he can be played too deep, with his back to goal. GB couldn't play to his strengths when he was here and I can't see that would change if he came back unfortunately. I'd love to see him here doing what he's good at but we don't pick the team or decide tactics. It's frustrating to see what he's capable of when played appropriately

Let's not forget we are paying a % of his wages, so depending on what that % is it might not be a deal breaker, I do hope the situation is being talked about within the ivory towers at Valley Parade.

I watched one of Bowyers press conferences a few weeks ago when the subject was raised and I got the impression he would like to bring him back.

The fact that we've done well so far without relying on our forwards is testament to how well the likes of Connelly, Cooke, Pritchard etc have played. I'm struggling to see how bringing in a prolific forward to put away the chances they are creating will even remotely hinder our progress. It doesn't have to be one or the other I.e a choice between the goals being distributed throughout the team or a goalscorer. Bring in Doyle and we'll have the capacity to do both.

Yes we haven’t struggled without him have we the only thing that is hampering us at the moment is our injury list which would finish most teams in this league. Donaldson has done a great job leading the line and bringing others into play and Vaughan who has worked his socks off the last two matches forced out of position will score plenty over the season. Yes Doyle has done great and played in the right position will score but as a team we have not missed him at all

I get it why we loaned him out but have said from the start if we got an injury to Donaldson or Vaughan we are lightweight up front and if the club were prepared to take that risk so be it, apart from the Port Vale game we have done well grinding results out but very few have been convincing, and to be fair we deserved something out of that game.

A fair few on here had stated that he was finished, just rubbish and disinterested. I said at the time like so many others did, letting him go out on loan to a direct rival would come back to bite us on the arse and it will. Brilliant move getting rid of Scannell who I do think is on the decline but Doyle scored a fair few last season in the league above with a completely dogshit team around him. Play to his strengths and he will score a lot. Hes now getting the correct service and hey, what do you know...

Theres only City who could end up paying half his wages for him to score a shit load for a direct competitor and then ultimately look like they're gonna lose the hottest striker in the league for nothing! Honestly you couldnt make this shit up

Swindon above us on goal scored now..cheers Eoin

I hope we have already made the decision to recall him. How about an offer to Rovrum for Yates, and really scupper Swindon's chances whilst improving ours!!

I'm not sure we haven't missed him, the two games Donaldson has been out we beat Crawley but hardly convincing and although we dominated Port Vale second half we lost, not suggesting the results would have been different but are we saying Doyle back in a team that is full of confident he wouldn't make a difference.
