    Cost/Value.

I went to the Salt bar again on Friday afternoon with my mum, same sandwich as before, prawn & crayfish with a side salad and chips. It was just as big and just as good as the last time, I couldn't finish it. My ma had some sort of skewered fried spicy king prawns with side salad and garlic dip, she souln't finish those either and they were a starter. Service was good and attentive, if I am nitpicking...........on our last visit the waitress brought the wooden box of condiments over with the bbq sauce bottle caked in dried old sauce. Same this time, ok I am not having any bbq sauce but still, and there was no salt, there were just empty white salt sachets amid the brown pepper ones. 2 halves of IPA and I think the bill was around £16, I thought it was great value.

Yesterday me & Mrs Abbo visited Skipton, called into the Devonshire Arms (Spoons) for a bite. I had a tuna & cheese panini with salad, Mrs Abbo a halloumi cheese wrap with chips. Drinks, I had a pint of Thatchers Gold cider, Mrs Abbo a glass of Pino Grigio. It was very cheap, £12 I think. But it was garbage. My panini was blah, the salad dreary, Mrs Abbo complained of the wrap being mainly wrap. And despite asking twice, I had to go on and get the condiment box. A waste of £12 really.

Panini, wrap and two drinks for £12 is great value. Spoons very good at what it does for me!

Went to the spoons in Chapel Allerton today with my better half, and had 3 of the small plates to share (£10.25).
8" ham and mushroom pizza, loaded chips with barbecue chicken and cheese, and chicken breast pieces (10) with soy sauce dip.
All excellent and actually less than £10 because of 'tax equality day'.
Pint of Abbot £2.39, small wine £1.90,
Value and quality, spoons will do for me.

Tax equality day is a Tim Martin statement about fair taxation for pubs, cutting VAT by 7.5%, condiment box was on table but we didn't use it

OK so apparently Tim Martin was a fan of the Dukes of Hazzard so the JD bit came from JD "Boss" Hogg.
Weatherspoon was the name of his geography teacher at school who told him that he would never amount to much!
    True story I believe.

Nope, it's cheap food but it's not great value, not when Rajas can give you far cheaper food that serves the same purpose.

I like Spoons, for beer, it's great but no more food for me, I've had a couple of years of promising to stop but enough is enough, I always regret it, it's cheap but what do you expect? I only went in Skipton because everywhere else looked like a wait..........it's garbage fayre.

I think it depends on what you get. If you stick to the breakfasts I dont think its bad at all. There is some items on the menu that I wouldn't think about touching though....

Went on Friday night - really impressed, food was really good and loads of it. Pizza was spot, meat feast but you could tell the meat was decent stuff. Burgers are huge and cooked properly, little bit pink in the middle and not too expensive. Think the bill, with 2 pints of blonde and G&T came to £38.

Was it busy? I think this turn into our usual local food joint although I can see this turning out badly, I parked there a few days ago, never noticed any signs, why should I even be looking for any?

The Great Northern is not a Greene King which is great news IMO but owned by a Leeds Company, Concept Taverns about who I know nothing, should be open soon & I'll report back.

Went past recently, looks like Shipley Shimla Spice with added TK Maxx, very bling.

Facebook has gone mad over the parking issue. :joy:

Yes it was busy, infact we got the last table (they said) around 8ish. We'll definitely be going again, tagged it on to drinks around Saltaire too. Some interesting folks about!!

    Great Northern Brewhouse! Looks decent.

Hi there, what's the parking issue you are talking about? We often go to Fanny's and have noticed that the car park at the side is now charging for evening parking too. I wouldn't even have noticed it if someone hadn't warned me.
