Seen pictures of it and can't imagine the locals will be happy with the layout but we'll see over time. Might call in for a drink on Friday and see what its all about.

    3 micro pubs?

Idle is a funny one. I'm not sure it could handle another micro style bar in the village. It could do with more restaurant style bar that covers both bases but again I'm not sure it would be busy enough to keep going. It has a good spread of pubs but nowhere really to go for food, unless you want a takeaway or curry.

No surprise to me. The Yorke Arms was a massive (and extraordinarily expensive) disappointment when we went there for our anniversary last October.

By contrast, Shibden Mill Inn was very good indeed last weekend.
I had lamb cheek starter, turbot main and the full cheeseboard.Other half had a seafood starter from the specials board, halibut loin and apple cheesecake. All very good indeed. Decent malbec for £32.
Room was lovely, service friendly and efficient. Very good breakfast. The whole atmosphere of the place is homely and welcoming. Not cheap, but not as eye-watering as the Yorke Arms and much more fun
We loved it and will certainly go back.

Looks like Bradford's the only big city with no entry.

Will Grand Cru count as Bradford if it continues to impress?

I suppose that technically the Box Tree, and Prashad are in Bradford MBC and the Angel and Devonshire have a BD postcode (says he clinging to straws)! ;)

When I was a lot younger, last century, there used to be an excellent restaurant on North Park Road in Heaton, closed and moved out to Mill Bank nearRipponden, but then that ultimately closed in 2010!

    What restaurant was that?

I know it isn't this one, but I went to the Millbank pub for food a few times out that way, around 2005. Think it was a national review that put me onto it.

Really trying hard to recall its name. My wife and l can only recall that it had a number perhaps 36 or 46. It was near the Cartwright Hall entrance to Manningham Park.

Your recollection about the MillBank @ MillBank will be correct.

    Is it what became Clarks?

(I googled, and 46 Highgate was Clarks' address...)

Not sure, it wasn’t on Highgate but certainly on North Park Road. Ate there in the 1990’s. I recall that they transferred to Mill Bank (crap parking). Not sure if one of them went to Mustard & Punch at Honley?

I think it was called Restaurant 49 or somesuch, after the door number on North Park Road. Or it might have been 19 as Ahar suggests.

My mum lives just off North Park Road. I think the place you're talking about is on a corner plot almost opposite the entrance to the park. It's been closed for years but there was a brief reopening of a sorts about 15 years ago. Very odd. Saw some signs go up and it looked kind of open so we went round on Xmas eve and a priest or reverend answered the door. White collar anyway! He said as they weren't fully open he couldn't sell us drinks but he could give us some. Drank for a couple of hours chatting with him and he wouldn't take a penny from us. Told us it would be a Christian restaurant, bar and hotel. He said that a character from Coronation Street stayed there regularly. About 11:30 he apologetically asked us to leave as he had to go and do midnight mass.

We never went in there again and it never really looked to ever open properly.

It was so good people even came to check it out from Leeds!

It closed down many years ago but I've no idea where it moved to.
