We've stayed once (admittedly an invite but I reckon the quality is consistent) & the room was top notch:

I definitely saw a veggie section on the menu recently & they've started doing a tasting menu too.

Thanks. Just booked a room and table for our anniversary on 4th October. I'll stick a review on here afterwards.

Rooms are really nice, some small and quaint but spotless and a few nice touches. Food's really good for veggies, and pescatarians and there's a separate vegan menu. Love it there, we're going again just before you and can't wait

    That's really helpful, thanks.
We've pushed the boat out for a deluxe room so it should be decent sized. Really looking forward to it now.

On August Bank Holiday weekend we entertained the lad's future in-laws. So, on the Saturday evening, we took son, fiancee and her parents to The Moorcock Inn.
Second time I've been there. It was superb. Even better than the previous time.

Of the party of six, one is pescatarian and one has horrible allergies to anything allium related, so no onions, chives, garlic etc. They took all of this in their stride and even printed separate menus for the two non-carnivores.

We decided to have the wine pairing this time and each selection was beautifully paired. The fruity Belgian red ale with the onion & rhubarb tarte-tatin was an inspired offering.

Every course was lovely. The mutton was melt-in-the-mouth gorgeous. We didn't bother with the cheese. The home made bread and butter is to die for and you really do have to resist eating too much of it for fear of leaving no room for the later courses.

I don't know how often they change the menu but if you're contemplating a visit I'd get yerself there pronto and enjoy this one while it's there. Mind you, the next one might be even better. God, I love this place.

Hi again. Can you remember if it has a decent size bar area? Seems a bit of a trek from nearest pubs. Cheers

Two small bars - the upstairs one larger than the one downstairs. Has a nice garden area by the river which we’ve enjoyed an aperitif this evening.

It's s beaut, innit? I've been during each season now and have been bowled over by something, if not some things, each time.

Need to flatten the bar menu now which always looks inviting.

Just returned from a night at the Boars Head in Ripley. Lovely place. Other similar places poss doing slightly more adventurous food but after a decent drink i'm less inclined towards the fancy and prefer the homely, which it does well.

Had brekkie at Betty's prior to the trip out to the sticks. Quaint and touristy perhaps, but the food was very good.

It sounds more or less the same as when I last visited over a decade ago. Homely sums it up well but good quality.

I have to fully endorse @Campbell's soup@Campbell's soup recommendation for Buon Apps in Otley. Excellent all round and didn't seem as cliquish as the old place. Food was superb and not your traditional standard Italian. Only odd thing was the draught Italian beer at £4.50 for about 2/3 of a pint. Vert morish though
Already booked to go back with friends.

One day i'm gonna win the lottery and be able to eat in some of these fine establishments that are mentioned on here. I see the bills people mention and they make my eyes water.
