Not too sure why people are saying Fordy is being unrealistic in his expectations.. He's exactly right we should be dominating this league and as fans we should be demanding domination it's a bloody awful league. Devine is not good enough, had he been one of Edin's recruits he would have been hounded out by now.. Get rid of him and stop accepting mediocrity. It's time we demanded more, if you demand more you inevitably get more. Balls to worrying about other teams, set up the defence like a normal game and tell the attackers to go for it.

 

This. imagine how crap we must be if we're worrying about how good Cheltenham Town of all teams are and how they might punish us.

it's not even as if we're playing one of the bigger teams in this league. nope its just Cheltenham and everyone's panicking cos they've scored a couple last week.

Don't think it has anything to do with how crap we must be, how far we've fallen, how thin the ice is or it's only little Cheltenham Town I think it's purely reflective of where Cheltenham are in the league.

 

Go ask Sunderland fans how this attitude helped them in their conquest to reach League One. We are where we are because of mistakes and we don't have a divine right to steam roll teams, can you imagine what teams thought of little old Bournemouth in 2009?

They are showing as one of the most ruthless sides in the division, averaging nine shots per match (lowest in the division) but also taking fewer shots per goal scored than most - long term their form isn't likely going to be sustainable as you cannot being that clinical forever.

Let's get at them, with tempo, purpose and pace tonight. Get our heads infront and let them chase the game. They aren't going to be coming up against attacks like Vaughan and Donaldson every week.

 

We should be going into every game with that attitude. If when the final whistle is blown and we've been beaten or drawn and we deserved it then fine. However the mentality should always be to win and to play on the fact that we are the biggest club in the league. Teams should be looking at the fixtures and thinking "Damn we've got Bradford tonight, I'd take a draw right now"

Why as a fan should I settle for mediocrity??, I don't settle for that in any other aspect of my life. sometimes I eventually have to accept I'm not the best at something but I start out wanting to be. That's what I want from the football team I support.

 

Interesting to hear that McCartan said we haven't even got going yet as a team, have to look at that positively as if we haven't got going and we are 7th in the league is great. Also just been on Instagram and Akpan is at home with his kids. He's been well and truly dropped and rightly so; 3 points tonight is a must to get that promotion mind set going.

 

Yes he's played a lot of football so far this season but I think Bowyer will stick with him up front and introduce Oteh for the last 20 minutes if required.
I think Bowyer will give Ismail the nod over Connolly he looked very lively against Northampton.

 

I'l take a point before the ball is kicked if we can follow it up with a win at home against Carlisle.

so what if fans expect to win every game? of course we do. I certainly expect to be beating the likes of Cheltenham.
if we don't get promoted, we have failed. of course we're expecting to win. why wouldn't we be?

Like it or not we are where we are, a dog shit team in a dog shit league. Yes id love us to be running away with it, but the reality is it that the players we have arent gonna be good enough to walk away with it.

You rock up on here every saturday saying devine is shit, akpan is shit, oconnor and o donnell are shit, donaldson is shit , bowyer isnt a good manager and yet all these shit players with their shit manager should be tearing all and sundry to pieces and that we should be 10 points clear by winter.

Why is it embarrassing ?, like it or not as a club, league one and league two have been very much a part of our footballing history, we are where we are because of poor management in the past, having to apply for re-election to the football league is embarrassing but we stood by our club.

 

The same little old Bournemouth that spent £600,000 on Matt Ritchie while in league one a good few years ago?

Make no mistake, everyone knows Bournemouth were bankrolled massively to the PL. In terms of finance they were always one of the bigger players after the takeover.

 

Absolutely sick AND tired of the ''settling for mediocrity'' rubbish. It's just appreciating we aren't a Man City/Liverpool, don't think anyone is being over cautious on this thread just realised that Cheltenham have scored a lot of goals this season..

 

Half agree with what you are saying but in 2009 they were in League Two, they signed Matt Ritchie in the championship from Swindon. The team they got promoted to the premier league hardly looked ground breaking and there were more fancied teams to go up that year and a lot bigger fees paid than the 500k that Bournemouth paid.
