One of the reasons we have 5/6 the largest economy in the world is because we have products or services that ppl want. Individual countries within the EU are not allowed to negotiate contracts. I fully accept there will be some disruption until such time as we can get our own trading links going again, but what I don’t accept that everybody will stop wanting what we have. Indeed I also think we will continue to trade with the EU at some point, because they sell more stuff to us than we do to them. Normally when money is involved they tend to find a solution and damn quick. Plus we have become lazy as a trading nation, we have sat back and allowed the EU to sort out the trade deals. We should have been in there and making notes etc,,

The problem we are experiencing now is down to the wasted May years of slow slow and slow again. Setting red lines before you start negotiating is not a good look. Yes we may have needed certain parameters, but you keep them in your head until such time you need to get them out of your head. Knowing what the other party is prepared to offer, gives you an advantage in my view.

We are stuffed now because they won’t open up negotiations as in their eyes we have a deal and they know it is not acceptable in the UK. So they will stand by and wait and see how the chaos unravels. Very typical bog standard EU negotiating stance, they are hoping now that either Article 50 will be revoked or the May deal will somehow miraculously be acceptable. Either via a second ref, or a GE, in the hope that the British ppl will change their mind, as far as they are concerned job done so far. They most certainly do not want a no deal exit, but what they need to understand the British ppl have had a guts full of politicians.

The worrying thing is the country is split down the middle because geographical boundaries and support in different parts of the country the result of a general election doesn’t necessarily reflect what would happen in another referendum. So which ever way this pans out there is going to be unrest there is not going to be any easy resolution to this

We would be if it were up to the Tory party. Who stopped them? Who created worker rights, the NHS? Voting rights. Sick pay. Annual leave entitlement. Could go on and on. All these things we've had to fight the ancestors of the current Tory party MPs for.

    I'm very bitter.

I see the Miller/Major legal challenge has been rejected, but for some reason been allowed to jump the next level with regards the law and allowed it to go direct to the Supreme Court for an appeal, which will be heard on September 17.
You have to give Gina credit when she comes out with this nonsense “Today, we stand for everyone. We stand for the future generations and we stand for representative democracy" she doesn't know the meaning of the word.

I'd ask where her money is coming from, I don't know if she's previously sold companies but she is listed as a director at two companies and has a net worth of £186k. Not enough to fight all these court battles?

Right guys/gals as yet it has been very civil with regards pro and anti brexit posts and repliesand we need to keep it that way.
Can anyone answer my question with regards Boris saying he will not ask the EU for an extension, if he is true to his word and many have called him a liar, what is the situation as at the moment it looks like the General Election takes a back seat until Labour get the amendment written in blood and made law.

It’s called passing the buck too hot to handle. It is I predicted, no Court in the land is going to get involved in the political morass. Closing Parliament before a Queens Speech is normal. So nothing out of the ordinary for a PM, in fact John Major can give chapter and verse on that one! You can say it is undemocratic all you like, but it is still in the remit of the PM. He may well be playing the game, but then we have all kind of shenanigans from the Remain supporting Parliament this last few years.

What Gina needs to understand we don’t have representative democracy in this country, we have an Executive who decides on the agenda, and Parliament discuss, and vote as they wish.

He won’t have any choice, he will have to go to Brussels and ask for a extension once this bill becomes Law. If he does, he could be taken to court, unless they can find fault with the Law. Unless he gets creative with his letter, but he has to ask.

He could resign as PM (and then stand for election again amongst Conservative members) conveniently meaning we have no PM on 31 October.

The only thing that seems certain is that there will be more twists and turns. I do believe we are now approaching the end game, and that we will have some sort of conclusion within the next few months.

Of course, whether we leave without a deal or with some sort of withdrawal agreement, we will then move to the next stage of negotiating new deals with the EU and the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, all the rest of the things that need sorting (climate change, the health service, policing etc.) continue to pile up.

He could place a vote of no confidence in the government. That would be interesting.
