Whatever Swindon like us are trying to jettison two top earners to pay the wages of a striker which could well be Doyle

 

Good luck to them.

They have no money, and won't sign a top forward.

We've been there in the past, it's no fun, if your ambitions are based on maybe moving on poor players, it's time to give up hope of marquee signings.

Let's face it, we want a marquee midfielder, but without shifting on some pretty awful players, it's not happening outside of a loan.

It's possible he was on the board at Crawley - I'm not sure what else could explain it!

His wages would've been better used elsewhere to address the glaring holes in the squad imo.

 

But he would need to be replaced - I wouldn't like the thought of Shay and Omari as our only back up. I think we have 3 capable strikers for the first time in years. It allows for injuries, rotation, loss of form etc.

Apart from another midfielder I think we are sorted. There are no 'glaring holes' in my opinion, just a hole that still could be addressed.

 

Entirely possible IMO. Doyle did it last season, in a tougher league in a very poor side, up top on his own for the majority..

Just how many times has this comment been posted on here, you'd have thought Collins and Hopkin would have worked it out and found someone to fill that role to help Eoin.

I think with what Doyle is on, we would be able to get a LW, DM and ST in, with one maybe two of them being loans.

 

If GB is going down the diamond or 4-3-3 route then Ismael and Scannel will be enough for wide players. Always Colville and Gibson to fall back on 'if needs must' too.

A tough tackling midfielder is desired. Agree on that.

 

The main reason he gets a pass from me and a clean slate going into this season. TBH he was one of the better ones of a bad bunch.

 

I've commented a few times I'd be happy to keep him with the right players along side him, and fellow posters have said we need to get rid mainly because of his wage demands.
Those 3 have got to be the best strike force in league 2, now its up to Gary Bowyer to make it work and get the best from all three, if we can get McCartan, Reeves and Ismail back its looking good IMO for the coming season

 

Reeves would be a big plus. Looks twice the player than Akpan and Anderson when he was fit. Just think it could be a big ask for him to play a big part this season with the amount of football he's missed.

 

Imagine Gary Bowyer also praising his work rate. That's now 3 managers out of 3 that have specifically mentioned how hard he works yet plenty on here call him out for being lazy?

Strange how little some people actually see of the game despite being actually present.

 

He was probably gassed out from chasing all the long balls, losing headers to CB's 5 inches bigger than him and working alone up top.

I thought his work rate was good all things considered.
