Confidence and squad morale plays such a key part on a players overall game, has champ manager taught you nothing?! If our rivals are after Doyle that indicates he has plenty to offer given the right service.

Look at it this way, any one of us on here could play in a team that gets 15 penalties over the course of a season and score all or most of them, wouldn't make any of us better than a single professional football player

It indicates his record at clubs like Oldham and Chesterfield was decent, and they're happy to gamble.

That logic must have been interesting for you when we signed Akpan last year from a rival club. Did he have more to offer? Nope, despite his reputation, his dreadful, borderline useless form continues.

That makes sense with the slowness with which they are moving, but I can't see them getting the deal over the line with such a convoluted plan.

 

There is always a manager who thinks he can tame a wild talent like Djibril Cisse, Balotelli, Ravel Morrison or Nike Ranger or a manager who thinks he can bring the best out of a misfiring striker. It’s the agents chattering in their ears about how all their star man needs is a loving arm around his shoulders, a proper pre season and he’ll score 20 for you and YOU’RE the manager he admires most. Most of the soft headed dick heads lap it up, it’s why shite like Josh Wright keep getting a job.

 

Vaughan once and Donaldson also twice. However in about 45 minutes I've seen more from those two than Doyle over a whole season, they look to have actual footballing attributes and a bit of nous as opposed to watching Doyle offer absolutely nothing. Can't hold the ball up, can't pass, can't even shoot that well, no strength or pace and he cried once when he got booed. But lets keep him cos he did alright at Chesterfield the other year or something after a year of being completely gash for us. The other thing is, other players from last season have got their heads down and showed more so far this pre season, yet Doyle and Akpan are still crap.

As much as he probably wished he was playing it wasn't Edin out there on the pitch. Edin was also out before January so they had ample time to turn things around. They deserve all the shit they get for last season

 

Not sure I follow, you don’t understand why a strikers form might dip if he was working alongside dross week in week out for 40 odd games. Where was the service ? We need 3/4 strikers for the season I think Doyle could be a key player this time.

 

There are mitigating circumstances to his form of last season and this should be taken into account when assessing the merits of Doyle as a player. After watching him last season and despite those circumstances I would have to weigh this up with the salary that he is reportedly on. His wage could bring in two good players at this level and tying that with what i saw last season i would definitely let him go if a club was willing to take him. He didn't impress me with his allround game even after taking into account him being used in a role not completely suited to him. He's painfully slow, watching Vaughans speed of thought and movement and Donaldsons strength and hold up play showed me the sort of things i so badly missed watching Doyle and Miller.

 

This, even independent of him having no service he offered nothing. I would much rather get rid and see who Bowyer could recruit on that sort of wedge as it took him about 5 mins of this pre season to sign two players I would rate head and shoulders above Doyle.
