I presume his attitude would be that he's backing himself to take his chances and be first choice and not just a back up.

Otherwise we'd be better off getting shut either way.

Most of the arguments in favour of Doyle aren't based on what he's done in a City shirt.

Get rid. We can get 2 good players for his wage.

So even the penalties Doyle won and then scored, don't count?

You can't pick and choose, he scored 11 goals last term, that's fact.

Not bothered whether he goes or stays he is however very expensive as a "back up" and would he be happy as a L2 benchwarmer I suppose that depends on his ambitions
I can think of a few players I would like to see leave before he does

He’d be a good player to keep but with our budget can we have a sub on so much money when we need a left winger more

One of those I could take or leave tbh. However if possible I’d rather a quality centre mid and left winger come in. As others say he’s an expensive back up, what if he comes in and gets injured then he’s sat there contributing nothing on probably the biggest wage at the club.

I trust Bowyer to improve us should he leave.

Why is Doyle the only player from last year who gets a free pass on reputation?

I don't remember the others getting this much leeway

I'm not picking and choosing, I know he scored 11 goals in total. I put a specific scenario to Sergio, based only on open play.

Exactly, and as yet, he's shown nothing in preseason to suggest he'll be any better this season, unlike some of the other disappointments from last year.

How many times have Donaldson and Vaughan scored over 20 a season???

    This should be good...

Depends on his salary and the cost of a replacement. If we can get a decent prospect on a lower salary, which allows us to invest part of Doyle’s salary elsewhere then I wouldn’t be too upset. However, if we plan on using Patrick as the backup and not bringing in a replacement striker then I would be very disappointed to see Doyle leave.

I think Doyle got a bit of a tough task last season, he was often up front on his own with the ball getting hoofed up to him. I think most people could have guessed he would struggle. I’m happy to give him (and the rest of the players that have remained) a clean slate and see what he can do.

Probably because he played as a lone striker, his main service was 50 yard passes and he still managed 1 in 4 which was around James Hanson's record in a good season.

Tough to blame him with shite like Hopkin, Miller, Bruenker and Clarke around him.

Although he did play much better on the few occasions Miller was played up front with him and he was given more space...

Can't understand this debate over penalties. If you won the lottery last night would it matter if you won with a lucky dip or your regular numbers? As long as you won you would be happy. Same for goals, they count the same if they are 40 yard screamers or a penalty.
