New Signing: James Vaughan

A three year deal. Surely that’s going to bite us in the @rse.
Should we really be offering that for a 31 year old?

 

Yes it was, we were just discussing that last night. However, he looked smiley yesterday, maybe he wants to stay and play in our much improved strike force. I think we exposed his weakness as a striker last season. He is a bit of one trick pony, but might fit in now, but if he leaves he does. Mind you apparently Blackpool and Swindon are after him, so we can let them fight it out, we could get money for him.

 

Donaldson and Vaughan or Doyle and Miller. Hmmm... difficult

 

He was played in a target role which didn't suit him and playing with a different striker might help, but we don't have the sort of striker that people keep mentioning would help him, like Craig Davies when he was at Oldham. I see Vaughan definitely starting and i can't see Donaldson warming the bench at this stage of his career. And i can't see Doyle wanting to be on the bench at this late stage of his career.

 

I really hope not. Doyle could still be the massive player for us that we all hoped he would be. Great competition for places having to choose 2 from Vaughan, Doyle & Donaldson.

Just need to offload McCartan and Patrick now and get an upgrade on the latter. I would still like some pace to give us a different option and none of the others can give us that

I know we're still in June ........... But let's beat ASDA, M&S, TESCO, et al , with our recruitment, and planning.

Actually it's around 80 goals in just over 300 career games and played a lot of his career at a very good level.

Whilst in league two, anyone that can offer a negative about this signing is being very short sighted indeed.

That’s because the announced budget is bollocks.

Why is Doyle surplus? We need a squad and it isn't like we have an abundance of strikers with quality unless you rate Omari and Shay.

Let me remind you I did say to @Faithful Bantam that it would depend on contract length. We've offered him 3 year deal which no doubt sealed the deal.

 

I agree with this but the chance of signing a pacy striker on loan will be difficult. Surely his parent club would want him a guaranteed start, but with CD, JV and ED, that’s unlikely.

We definitely need one though, unless Bowyer can work miracles with Patrick or convert Robinson

Could do. It certainly looks Vaughan is our long term number one striker with the three year deal, its not one of those signings where i can see him moving elsewhere with his age.
