Yeah absolutely, I can accept that counter argument.

Absolutely. For me this is seriously tin pot. What sort of a professional league club doesn't have an assistant manager? Are we really that broke? Its weird as the signings we have made so far look above average on the whole and don't cry out that were struggling for funds, but the story in the T&A just smacks of cost cutting. I'm totally baffled and its just poor financial planning / setting budgets properly. Id rather have one less player on 1500 quid a week, than not have an assistant manager.

 

Trouble is we have excess players that we would like to get rid of. I am sure Bowyer would have been involved when budgets were set. Not ideal but he can work with it

 

Exactly. Devine, Anderson, colville are all waste of wages which could've been spent on an assistant, a proper fitness coach and keeper coach.

 

I agree on an assistant, but we are getting a keeper coach according to the article and we have a fitness coach.

I imagine Drury is the reason we can’t get an assistant, so imagine he’ll do it unfortunately.

Would have thought it fairly evident that the difference is we're signing players with and by a coach in place and last season we didn't. (with disastrous results)

I am sure GB will have input into the discussion and agreed with the decision. Yes I am sure he would want an assistant BUT he knows he has to work with the budget.

Can we have a reality check please? This is the price we have to pay as a club for the Rahic overspending on players who have not lived up to their billing last season.

I honestly think he would rather spend the money on players. If he really insisted on having an assistant he would have one, but for now he has decided to invest in the squad.

We might not like Dreary but guess what GB is ok with him.

 

Yet GB decided that he wanted that ‘padding’ or otherwise he would have let them go.

 

Nah, we'll have the keepers training themselves again with the inevitable disastrous consequences but its ok as we're doing something different.

 

My point was that having (or not having) a coach in place should make absolutely no difference whatsoever to the recruitment side of things.

Edit - by "coach" I actually mean the coach and not the continental version which is of course the manager.

 

Pretty sure we're at cross purposes.

To not let Bowyer get his own staff in is a massive mistake.
