In that case then, Salford won't sign him.....
What a shame we judged him last summer. Judged him enough to offer him an extended contract.
As mentioned, he initially turned us down as he wanted to break into the first team. Either this lad has a HUGE opinion of himself, or he's seriously deluded. Let's hope he performs better on the phone to Butt than he did on the field for us. I expect the salary they are offering is more than suitable enough for him, and he'll move on to "better and bigger things".

From the sounds of it. Riley arrived here and thought he'd made it, rather than seeing it as an opportunity to work as hard as he could to become a first team regular. He possibly thought that hard work was something that lesser players had to do to overcome their lack of talent and education. When a kid plays for such a huge club, sees multitudes of kids let go every year, then rises to the top to captain one of their junior teams. It must be easy to believe that you're something exceedingly rare, special and talented.

Millenials and their ilk have a tremendous over inflated view of their own importance. Riley might be one them !

Can you not? Even if it was abundantly clear that he was nowhere near ready to play with the big boys?

you don’t stay at a club like man utd or one of the other elite clubs for more than 10 years and be made captain of youth and reserve teams by being lazy, unprofessional and having and inflated view of yourself..

we have no idea what went on behind the scenes with riley and others, maybe they were promised the world by rahic and abbott just like we were and felt let down by those around them that brought them in to the club.

as far as i’m aware there’s been no reports of riley not training properly, missing training or turning up late, refusing to play and he’s not been to the papers or disrespecting the club on social media. we didn’t see much of riley and we may be able to question his ability but it’s hard to question the attitude of a person we do not know or see on a daily basis.

Hopefully Paudie and Vaughan announced this week and that'll be a great amount of players in for the start of pre season.

    *cough* Paul Pogba *cough*

Man United, over the last few years, are the epitome of having lost sight of what's needed to succeed on the pitch.

If Riley couldn't get into last years team hes either chronically lacking in ability or character.

This is what happens when you sign a Kid used to high income. Hopefully, he now realises that his stock has depreciated faster than the value of his 'smart' car.

Must be everybody elses fault. From what i saw of him its a case of another player who's ability has been vastly inflated due to a connection to a big six club. He's not the first of this type we have signed, anyone remember Isiah Rankin?

That’s one of the best things about this forum. Rarely any overly generalised sweeping statements thrown about.

Yes, A lot of pace but not much ability when playing against grown ups. Even so, was a brilliant signing. It gave our most skilful player the kick up the bum to become the catalyst of our promotion to the prem. If Robbie Blake had had pace, we would have sold him for millions.

Yet you judged him on the say so of their fans? When we signed him, you claimed he was a great signing and that Man Us fans had obviously seen more of him than us.

Despite this, you’re telling us we can’t form a counter opinion on seeing him perform badly in a City shirt?

Is that the that cost us a £1 million? Pace a plenty, but couldn’t finish a bowl of cornflakes

RIley has appeared for us 4 times, I honestly have erased his performances from my brain. He came with such good credentials and enthusiasm but like others failed to deliver. The thing is about lads like RIley is that they are used to playing with players like themselves. What Abbo should have taken into consideration was he was completely untried in the grown up games. He should have been pushed if necessary out into the lower leagues on loan, in order to earn his stripes. Indeed we should have had him here on loan, and if that was refused, then it would have been clear we were being sold a pig in a poke. If he was any good at all ManU wouldn’t have sold him, but loaned him out. Even his statement that he didn’t want to go anywhere else as he wanted to break into ManU team.

If Salford want him, bite their hand off, even if he can find himself later, we can’t afford him.

I am saying a young players ability can’t be judged over half a dozen matches so we don’t know if he can play or not. I also said there must be something wrong with his attitude has he has been left out but successive managers. I hope he moves on but should he remain and we are continuing to pay him he should be given a clean state. And if he has any sense he will take it

I saw similar things from Connor Wood who got better as he went on
