well yes, but he's admitted it, and is trying to rectify that major error. fair play to him, if you ask me.

Are folk really making out it was just ER or is the common view that majority of the blame lies with ER but SR was incredible naive and made mistakes which he is learning from and trying to to make amends for?

How much do you want the manager to have to spend in league two? Is it all needed?

A few weeks ago when Warnock threw his article out about the clubs training facilities, the majority wanted money investing in the club to look to own our own in the future. Now, almost immediately at the sight of money, it should go back into playing budget?

    What do people want?

Good post I think he is timidly investing in the very risky event that one day he will get all his money back
Can't ever see that happening the only way to do that is to invest far more than the figures I have seen wipe out the contracted wage stealers and a hefty budget to let the manager whether or not that be GB build a winning progressive team if not I feel he is throwing good money after bad.We would need to be a championship club to get him anywhere near his money back Both he and Mr Rahic claimed to have learnt from their mistakes in the past (can't see much improvement)
It astounds me that he didn't have his own accountant in at VP to oversee the way Mr Rahic was tending his investment in not doing so I feel he has to be in some way culpable for our predicament
How we get out of this mess is anybody's guess but I strongly suspect that throwing the amount of cash he is doing will not improve either the clubs or his own finances

Well it's now down to Bowyer and Rhodes to cobble together a team worthy of challenging for honours. I know a few on here would stand another season of stabilisation, but I would prefer to have the best possible shot at first time success.

Rhodes knows how vital it is for us to go up first time of asking this time. He isn't stupid.

Bowyer didn't join the club to be in div 2 either

Lets hope the fans believe and come the start of the season really back the team no matter who is wearing the great shirt.

Like we did last year and the year before
The fans don't win promotion or get relegated it's the players on the pitch
Your a better man than I am if you can back the players from last season that put us in this position

So that's why he didn't work harder to avoid relegation! It all makes sense now!

    I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Fact is, regardless of fault, the club spent double the initial budget set last season. That is unsustainable, especially after getting relegated. Rupp was left with 3 choices;

    1. Reduce the budget back down to break even. This means Bowyer would have little to no movement in the market and would have to move players on before he signed anyone new.

    2. Reduce the budget back down to break even but make an additional amount available to enable Bowyer to have some movement in the market, irrespective of whether he can move players on or not.

    3. Retain the budget from last season and continue to fund the massive overspend, knowing he is unlikely to get that money back. As I said, this is just not sustainable and isn’t the policy they said they would follow when they bought the club.

Rupp has supposedly paid off the circa £2m overspend from last season and signed-off a further £1m overspend for this season. His losses from last season’s mistakes cost him around £3m so far. Do I begrudge him using any monies received from McBurnie being sold. No and I’m surprised anyone else does. It’s no different than what Lawn/Rhodes and Parkinson did when they were at the club

We're in div 2 not 1 and I expect the players that are here to be performing better in a lower level.

A lot happened last season and it was hard for managers and players but we've to somehow move on.

Doesn’t seem to stop you knocking the fact Bowyer was signed up for 2yrs? Make your mind up Fordy. If you’re saying it was hard for players and managers alike, why do you defend the players (and demand they get a 2nd chance), but berate Bowyer’s record at every chance you get?

You haven't played the game have you?

The manager and coach have to do their jobs and coach a squad. Turn things around.

I don't rate of the players and I don't rate the manager at this moment but I hope last season with all the problems that the manager and his coaching staff can pick these players up and improve them.

Bowyer needs to do his job!

Which is fine and I agree that Bowyer has to step up. But your criticism was present tense, not future. You have berated him and his current record, not his future record.

But now you appear to be excusing the players and citing underlying issues, whilst not affording the same leeway on the manager that was doing his best to get a tune from those underperforming players.

And yes, I have played the game, albeit not to any significant standard. My gametime lasted around 20yrs in the Sunday Leagues. Now I just play 5 a-side once a week and although not the most technical, my work rate makes Brunker look like a slacker. Ask @The Evidence@The Evidence
