That all sounds very good on paper but potentially you've then got players without ambition and happy to have reached what they see as "the pinnicle".

As an example, players like Guy Branston who loved playing at the club but unfortunately wasn't anywhere near the required standard.

I get the point you make but surely there's room for players who are thinking Bradford are just a pitstop on the easy to bettering themselves? Players such as Nahki Wells maybe?

Attitude is key but we'd be foolish to rule out ambition and drive as success for individual players can sometimes go hand in hand with success for the club.

Doyle is linked with a move to Swindon Town I see ?. If I was GB I would like to bring the situations of Reeves and Robinson to a head ?. Basically is TR going to be charged with anything if not he needs to be back in the building and if so then get rid. Surely has there ever been a more dragged out "case" than TR ? You either done summat or you haven't ?.

JR - the footballer not the Bric a Brac stall one upstairs. He's either carrying on as a player or calling it quits? WOTP alluded to the situation being something that couldn't be discussed in the open ?. So if so he either needs the full support of the club and all or hes, back in the building for pre-season. Either way GB needs clarity on these two players and not having to carry this baggage into the new season.

As for the rest of it if we simply have no intention of using the likes of Riley Patrick O'Connor Scannell Wright O'Donnell wouldn't it just make sense for them to try find a club on loan or pay them off ? In the long run that's got to benefit everyone themselves included. Including letting them reasses if professional football is right for them ?

    Adebayo Akinfenwa

    8 Goals scored

    6 Assists

    321 mins per goal

    Eoin Doyle

    11Goals scored

    5 Assists

    310 mins per goal

I'd suggest those stats disprove your theory.

Of course we want players to have individual ambition, but first and foremost this a team game. We had a team of individuals last season, but no team! We have to have both; good skill level and application, but also they actually want to play for this football club. The two ambitions both individual and club are symbiotic to each other.

The mess of last season was reinforced for me by the Ryan Sparks example; our new singing was thrilled to sign for us, brought his family here and spent the whole day here, I have no real idea of his capabilities but last seasons signings signed on the dotted line and buggered off! very happy to receive the money but wasn’t that interested.

Craig Conway, 34 years old, released by Blackburn, signed by Bowyer in 2014 so maybe one he'll go for again.

yep, I think our problem was that we signed 11 players who saw us as just a stepping stone to better things rather than just one or two who you can afford to carry cos theyre so much better.

That swindon adver link also states that the bookies have City and Plymouth as joint favourites to finish top at 8-1.
Amazing, must be looking for plenty of mugs wanting to lump their money on.
Haven't even got a squad yet and Everton/Anderson and Devine are hardly inspiring.

Akinfenwa scored 7 and had 7 assists in 36 games at an average of 1 in every 352mins. None of which were penalties.

Doyle managed 11 and had 5 assists in 44 appearances at an average of 1 in every 310mins. However, 4 of those goals were from the penalty spot.

I know you’ll argue that all goals count, but my point remains, they both scored 7 from open play. Doyle managed his across 44 games, whilst Akinfenwa did it in 36.

As such, I disagree with you that my theory is disproven

    Anyone watch Sunderland vs Charlton?

Utter bab, that league is a joke, couple of signings and no reason we can't finish top two.

    Oh, wait.

League one was shocking this year, it's no surprise the three best squads by an absolute mile went up.

Sunderland went for experience and big wages and it backfired. No legs in midfield compared to Charlton and probably fair result on the day. Although a last minute winner must be a killer for Sunderland.

After the three that went up there wasn't much left. Sunderland were average, Portsmouth were god awful to watch and Doncaster were one of the worst teams i've seen to qualify for the league one play offs. The rest of the division was even worse. The fact we finished rock bottom of this dire division shows just how bad we were, the worst team i've ever seen at Valley Parade. I can feel the enthusiasm for next season draining away from me as we speak.
