We've NO MONEY! I wish the club would just come out and say it!

 

Think it’s quite clear from our deals since Hopkin came in we’ve no money. No need for club to tell us the same

 

We’re on track to lose 2m quid this season fordy. You can’t be much clearer than that.

 

No one from the club has stated what this 2m is about and why it needs covering though.

 

I agree, but the next question has to be how Stefan allowed Rahic to get the club into such a worrying position with his declaration of duty.
I know Edin was a charleton but a businesman like Stefan should have been weary of the situation after Wembley, why he felt Edin needed to get rid of the very man who took us to Wembley in his first season managing the club.

 

Rhodes has said the shortfall due Edins transfer spree on crap will be £1.5m possibly rising to £2m come end of season think that is pretty clear.

 

You wish the club would just come out and say it how many times?

 

Odds on to get an injury / strain and miss games if signed - given his absence from the game - should be pay as you play

 

The EFL saw what a mess we were in in August and paid out early. We blew the lot on a plane banner rather than the parachute though

 

We will only have 16 players under contract come July. There is plenty of movement for the manager to put his full stamp on his squad.

And if those, I’d expect at least 4+ of them to be moved on (the likes of Wright, Riley, McCartan and Reeves)

 

Whether this comes out at the end of the season or not, who knows.

We can't afford to carry the Edin negativity into a new season.

 

I think this is down to Stefan not knowing about the football industry, and therefore was vulnerable to bullshit. I was surprised when I realised he wasn’t a director until Rahic left. His role was to keep coughing money up. A lot of ppl have been conned by Rahic. Whether he will explain how all that happened we will have to wait and see, it was a massive mistake for his personal finances and reputation, but the repercussions for the club is also massive.

 

But why does it need covering?

Why is it so important for the club to be debt free?

Most football clubs are in debt.

2m is nothing really.

Something else going on here.

 

Fordy, I think the majority of our fan's want our club to be run sustainably, if that means slow steady progress so be it. Recent history shows when we've been irresponsible it hasn't ended well.

 

Fordy are these serious??

 

Without the luck of a cup run or a Nahki Wells we were never sustainable. Take those cup runs out of Parkinsons tenure and we would have either been operating at a deficit or Parkinsons budget would have been cut, that budget which in all reality was the thing that was progressing us forward. In essence we'd reached a point where steady progress was going to come to an end. One thing Rahic did have right was increasing the wage budget, what he spent it on was another matter. If only the raving cockwomble had given McCall the extra expenditure rather than wanting to do it himself. As the club stands now i would expect the club to cut back on the budget in the summer, that means none the players of the calibre of Butterfield, Ball, Payne etc. No wonder they want us to get in early with the season tickets, it could be a hard sell in league 2 with whats left of the squad.

 

Other football clubs are more in debt than us @Fordy117 ,but you need someone to carry that debt as people and bills need paying. Lawn and Rhodes won't have had the money in hand to carry that debt so unless they cleared the deficit each season they would have creditors wanting to be paid. It would seem that at the moment Stefan Rupp is prepared to carry the debt himself as he probably can afford to. The question is how long he's prepared to keep paying the bills himself until the club become sustainable again, which as mentioned before relies on cup runs or selling a player.

 

I'd suspect the answer lies somewhere inbetween Rahic being the only vector of communciation into Stefan, for a period, and the regular attrition of accounting staff.

The message was buried and withheld. Agree though - its been a sh*t show. I think Stefan himself recognises it and thats why he's funded the loss of this season from his own pocket.

 

Running the club sustainably, with a budget that allows us to compete at either the top end of League 1 or League 2, means price increases without a significant drop in uptake.

Fans need to be willing to start paying more if we want to bring in quality and produce an entertaining and successful side.

Cheap tickets to watch dinosaur tactics and plodders who 'play for the shirt' but have no real ability, doesn't interest me.
