Flyover Cancellation

Well, if the club have panicked - and are personally refunding the money in order to stop the flyover then I think we can all quite proudly say to all those naysayers who said it was pointless and a waste of money that WE HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE!

You can think what you like quite frankly. The only reason I came on here this morning was to help Jon explain his position.

 

i imagine this is what a meeting of the 1922 committee has been like over the last couple of weeks.. if 48 letters come in does it go ahead next home match?

 

Jon knows exactly what was said and discussed and that conversation made him cancel the flyover. He accepts not everything can be shared on a public forum. It's about time some of you did.

 

***Edited*** just read your earlier reply @City-since-67, as I originally posted if the cancelation of the fly bye in any way helps git rid of Edin then that will lay a little easier with me, but when many were saying the banner should not have Stefans name on I disagreed and still do, Stefan was either negligent with regards the running of our club or as I have posted before a very trusting partner, IMO Stefan's inaction was just as bad for our club as Edin having input into the footballing side of the club.
I appreciate your original reply but still feel it could possibly have been done differently, after all when Sky have pundits quoting what's going on at our club and as I said previously Gary Bowyer telling me our clubs plight is open knowledge with football circles I'd have thought the last thing to worry about would be a fly bye, Edin has already tarnished our club, lets hope Julian can build the clubs reputation up once more.

I can accept it, I just think your holier than thou attitude towards others stinks more than Edin’s reign.

 

Any investor would have already done their research, its hardly hush hush that the fans are fed up with rahic destroying our club. If they haven't then should they really be investing in football

 

Let me say again you were put in a very awkward position on Friday/Saturday and I fully back what you did @JonButterfield, the fly bye was canceled but no one had control over what the potential new investors hear yesterday, the crowds both home and away IMO have been very supportive of the manager and players, but if Oxford had put us to the sword yesterday how can anyone stop the fans from possibly chanting Edin Out.
Of course we would prefer everything to be rosy at valley Parade but I would very much hope any new investor has done his homework on why they might have been asked to invest in the club and done their own due diligence and possibly seen why fans were annoyed with the goings on at our club.
I would expect that would be the first thing any new investor would do, the fly bye may not have gone down well but as with Edin & Stefan who have invested in Bradford City to improve our club and maybe get us to the Championship and sell the club making a tidy profit I'm sure any new investor is looking at the same situation ?.

I think what Jon is trying to say without saying it is that we have a potential new investor waiting In the wings who we are trying to show off the club too. Might not be a big football man and doesn’t always know what being part of a football club could be like when the crowd are behind the team and how many tickets you can sell etc.

Now Rhodes or the club invite this investor to the game and say “come and have a look what you could be investing in”. They get the crowd in, they get a new signing, invite back the ex player who we all loved and put on a bit of a show. We get a good result and the investor thinks, “yes this could work, there’s a chance I’ll get my money back”. Etc.

Now change that for a plane going over as we are trying to build an aromosphere, the fans attention is on that and Chanting Edin out, the players are not focussed and the game becomes a damp squib. Totally different mindset leaving the game then.

So someone from the club steps in and attempts to make sure the day runs as they want. Going as far as paying the money to cover the cost of the plane so people aren’t out of pocket. THat goes to show it must be serious and not mugging fans off. Why would they? You can all chip in again and get a plane up there for the next game.

If it offends you that much, ask for your money back and start your own fund for a plane if you believe this is a sham. Jon and others did all the hard work, why don’t you put your money where your mouth is and do it yourself? But I bet you won’t and will just continue to argue it for the sake of it.

 

It's only three weeks back that this Citysince69 character was telling us of secret meetings with Rahic and couldn't possibly divulge the plans and aspirations for fear of scuppling the vision.
Now he's telling us Rahic is out of the equation and wheels are in motion that again he can't possible divulge.

My pet Cat could dicipher that due to the details coming from various media sources.

He gets 10% of the story, adds another 40% then says he can't indulge us with the rest as its confidential

I'm not sure why we can't have both, Edin out of our club and Dave Hopkin pulling the team together and getting enough points to get us away from the bottom of the table.
We've all seen in a short period of time what bringing a professional into the club can achieve in Julian Rhodes ?.
It really isn't one or the other mate, we can have both by supporting the players and manager, which for the vast majority has been the case.
