I'm sure the massive crowds at Bury and Chesterfield must have healed them 'spiritually' due to their really vocal nature at home games....oh wait where are they in the league....maybe soon to be followed by us if the owners (ER - can I say that?) don't realise what is happening.....

I am not sure if you went on Saturday, but despite some turgid football, I think the crowd did not get on the players backs and indeed made a lot of positive noise until we conceded!

Don't all away managers say that when their team goes to a big ground?

Thats what friends and associates were telling me who went to the game, they did well to not chant after an abysmal first have, one saying it was the worst first half performance this season.

@Bigrod@Bigrod , I sit upper tier of the Kop and whilst the supporters in the main, didn't get directly on an individual players back, the moans and groans, finger pointing, frustration, head shaking and general negativity was far too often throughout play. It occurred when there was a breakdown in play, an attack by a Rochdale player or a Rochdale player carried the ball forward, a sliced clearance, errors or ball that didn't meet a fellow City player, indecision.
It wasn't all the time and genuine bursts of city play were greeted well but my overriding feel of the day , was of greater negativity.

For the first time I really felt that some of the fans were losing/have lost patience with the players and I'm sure they are sensing it.

As garbage and threadbare as the currently squad is, for some of the younger ones it's an opportunity they must have craved for years. If they can't take it then I don't have much sympathy for them "sensing" lost patience in the stands, they'll live.

I agree, the players must have picked up on the nervous atmosphere. I sit in the main stand and there was a lot of shouts of frustration and telling the players what to do. Whilst I agree they need to take that onboard, but the teams confidence is on the floor. It is also very difficult for the supporters who are also frustrated and nervous. We are also expecting to lose.

    It isn't.

But after 10 months of decline, where I doubt this current team would make much of a mark in the Conference, it isn't surprising that frustration is being communicated.

One of the things for me, about supporting City over the last ten years or so has been the crowd. We've had big crowds compared to most of our peers. The Valley Parade is appreciative of effort and skill. We are a bit grumbly, but we are based in Yorkshire. However, that increase in volume with a well organised attack or when the team gets on top for a period, is one of the joys of watching our club.

Right now, it feels like that has gone. Expectations are so low, both in the stands and on the pitch.

I guess you must pick up on it more than me. I sit in the Main JCT Lower Stand, probbly nearer to the action, if there was negativity, then it wasn’t too apparent closer to the game.

I guess the footballer/supporters relationship, is a symbiotic one. For supporters to be at least content, then they want to see endeavour and effort. Some form of attractive football. To become enthusiastic, it is attacking play, with control/composure. To become euphoric it is scoring goals which are crafted and often spectacular. Footballers can in turn benefit from the supporters mood.

Given the action of Blackpool supporters (staying away in significant numbers) and Charlton supporters (demonstrations within the ground), then it is a little surprising that both these clubs are not in the bottom four along with us.

I think the supporters have in the main been very restrained. Given Readings victory on Saturday, out of all the 92 clubs, City is now the worst performing club in 2018.

On Tuesday we will be over a third of the way through the season.

This club has gone from two consecutive seasons in the Play Off’s to a team still in the top six in January 2018, to an utter disaster. So it is even more of a change.

Frankly I think the players have got off lightly. Personally I am not going to Boo, Barrack or finger point. However when I see another howler, it is difficult not to groan or shake your head! If l don’t do that, then l may as well just give up on following City, as l need to see something which will give me hope.

No, but having seen his potential the transfer committee could have offered him first team football last season, after Meredith left and before signing Chicksen.

I doubt Wednesday would have let him go. They've rated him highly for a long time.

And I am sure he has got a point, but why to do you think there is so much negativity and growing anger surrounding the club?

I think the vast majority have been very patient. However, that patience has now run out.

my point being, simon from woking, is that it backs up what i said yesterday in that opposition managers have been using our own crowd against us for a number of years. even during the good times.

That is my point, this has not just happened overnight
Brisbane - all managers do this, listen to any pre-match interview and there is usually something alluding to 'if we can keep them (the home team) quiet for the first 25 mins the crowd will start to get on their backs, and this will be to our advantage'. Even you must realise this is about so much more than this, its not just our fans being frustrated with the players, the tactics, the manager etc - this is about the very essence of our club

You realy are wasting your time with this guy, as good a poster as he is.
Were the crowd at the players and Edin from the kick off or did the nastiness start when we went a goal down ?.
