You don't need any statistical information to see we need a quality goal scorer. As our main striker, even at this lowly level, Cook should have scored that gift of a chance and probably put yesterday's game to bed.

In his defence, it's a good job he's robust because his partners up front certainly aren't Instead of xG, perhaps someone could provide some statistical information on Hi. For the uninitiated, that's hamstring injuries.

Makes fascinating reading. Suggests we could have quite easily won five more games than we have and be 11 pts better off. As fans who attend the games, yeah, we knew this too, having seen us fluff countless chances, but it goes to show we aren’t a million miles away overall and relative to other sides in the division we are a much improved side under Adams than we were under T&S.

I think that's absolutely fair, and you can see where the onus needs to be come January.

I know that 91 other league clubs will be looking for more goals, but given chance creation isn't a problem you'd think the club might be able to persuade someone...

You'd hope that these days players and agents were as interested in data analysis as the clubs - why would a forward go somewhere that just isn't generating chances, and why wouldn't you go somewhere that's creating double figures (or close to) on a regular basis?

If only we had got Mullin! Playing in a shite Wrexham side and was shuffled back to midfield by Parky.

he’s wasted there. Was upfront mostly and scored 8 in 10 now but we missed the boat.

Same with Stockton who some said we were in for. With either of those we’d be in top three IMO

We signed three strikers whose clubs they were at didn't want to keep. The stark opposite of the two strikers you mention. And that's the problem when you have decreasing budget restraints, the likes of Mullin and Stockton are gonna go elsewhere. January is going to be intriguing, its clear we need quality in the ranks and that costs, especially in January.

I'm a little surprised we haven't to be honest, we need Angol back and and possibly still another striker, with regards taking our chances Adams often mentions it in his post match interview, but his comments with regards missed chances are used as an excuse by some.

I agree we need Angol back. He was supposed to have been back in October. It's all gone a bit quiet on his progress and I'm wondering if he's had a setback, like Eisa.

Given that Lavery has broken down again, I wonder how effective Angol will be, if or when, he returns. Footballers curse when you're susceptible to hamstring injury.

He was back training last week along with Eisa but not sure if it was with the squad or with the conditioning coach, I thought they might have been on the bench Saturday.

I used to go up to Rawdon Meadows regularly when Parky was the manager and got to know him quite well. He always made time for a chat and was open about what was going on and how injured players were progressing.

I haven't been up this season but, somehow, I wouldn't imagine Derek being anywhere near as approachable.

Cook is joint third top scorer in the division and has probably got the best scoring rate we have had from a striker in some time, yes he misses chances too - but that is the nature of the beast at league 2 level. The last time I checked the stats Cook had missed the most big chances in the division, but the others in the top three of that category were also in the top four goalscorers. There is a reason these players are playing in league 2.

Our problem is there is no goal threat at all outside of Cook and that is what is costing us - our three in behind the striker do not offer goals, with the possible exception of Angol who cannot be relied upon due to fitness and if Cook was to be injured we'd be completely screwed in the goals department.

So true Parky was always happy to have a chat, I've been down a couple of times this season and once training starts Adams is totally focused on the players and what's going on, whereas as you say Parky was happy to leave it to Parkin, Butler and Co.

Actually, I'm pretty good at judging people. He's a strange character and, probably, not the kind of individual I'd even give the time of day to.

Seems a random thing to but on a football forum about expected goals per game, especially as you obviously don’t give a toss about speaking to him and I’m sure he wouldn’t either. Anything for a moan I guess.
