You must agree that the infrastructure at Posh has improved significantly in his tenure.
For all our success over the last few years we having nothing to show for it other than memories.
He could wipe out his loan to the club by settling their current prize asset. He won't because he believes in the investment.
To conclude, they have investment, infrastructure, vision, method and an ethos of attacking football.
We have none of those things.

Thread title “Would you be happy with this guy in charge” My answer yes I have just watched his video on Posh TV . He his in isolation in the States the guy comes over well and is keeping in contact with the club . My point is we as fans hear nothing from our owner and not much from the club overall. I do feel we have had issues within the club long before the pandemic hit us. I have followed City for many years throughout difficult times. Once we get through this I just hope the club are positive and get things sorted even if it means Stefan going.

An area of poverty and not one where you have areas which are likely to attract the wealthy.
A substantial distance from the major metropolis of Manchester or Liverpool.
The footfall of supporters at Turf Moor, would be about the same as City, if we were in the Premiership, and we could probably get another 2,000 in.
So you have to look at the business model which they have, which given the area, supports a Premiership club.Tolly856, bantam2708, CT Bantam and 1 other person like this. -
For the long term good of the game, I agree that there has to be a better distribution of the money within the English pyramid. Unfortunately that will require the support of the PL itself and all of its member clubs to change the distribution formulae. I don;t see it happening soon. There are too many vested interests.Mike Hunt, Idlebantam, Tony Wilkinson and 1 other person like this. -

However, other unfashionable towns and cities seem to be able to sustain relatively successful football clubs.
So there must be more to it.
I think part of the problem is football culture has never been as engrained into the fabric of the city as, say, the north west, or other big industrial areas.
West Yorks, Huddersfield not withstanding, is just one of those areas where football never really gained a big foothold. It's just the way it is. Even Leeds only really became 'big' in the Revie era.
For me, the big missed opportunity was the late 80s.
I'd bet Tordoff is kicking himself now. A bit of investment could have seen City established in the old first division going into the premier league era. He'd be laughing now.
Another missed opportunity was not capitalising on our 15 minutes of fame in the late 90s, failing to invest in training facilities/ academy etc.
I don't necessarily share your pessimism regarding attracting investors. A hard nosed business man will see an underachieving football club in a big post industrial city with a large potential fanbase. Hence the comments from Dmac.
I'm not sure they'd give too hoots about what the golf club snobs think.Idlebantam, CT Bantam and Old city man like this. -

Let's be honest, West Yorkshire has an appalling record in professional football, considering its size. Small Lancashire towns; Burnley, Blackburn, Bolton, Preston, Blackpool all have eras (admittedly, some a long time ago) when they were up there with the very best in the country.
West Yorks by comparison has had very little success. Town, back when God was a lad, then a couple of periods (60's-70's, 90's) when that club from the other side of Pudsey was doing very well. Probably somewhere between 15 and 20 years all told when they were legitimately winning things or challenging.
Lancashire's dominance is even more remarkable when those small town clubs were competing with some absolute behemoths of football. In the club's of Manchester and Liverpool.
I suppose if we're talking white rose versus red rose counties, then South Yorks should be included. But then there's hardly large swathes of history where we saw the Sheffield clubs dominating. There's been plenty of years when both Sheffield clubs have bounced around the lower reaches of the four divisions alongside City.
West Yorks is an also ran in the annals of English professional football. I can't see anything changing in either the short or long term either. Having two Yorks. clubs in the top division whenever next season begins will be about as good as it's been for some time.
I don't believe that Lancashire has significantly more wealthy people than Yorks. Just more wealthy people who want to use that money to try and build their own football club into something more substantial than 'just be thankful that you've got a club to support'. I thought that when City had an obviously talented chief exec in D. Baldwin. His departure for Burnley was symptomatic of the malaise surrounding City in particular and West Yorks football in general.Dennis, Dubois and Interested Bystander like this. -
