What exactly are we in Britain being saved from?

 

Putin ain't wholly responsible for this conflict in Ukraine. Don't believe everything the west tells you, because there is a different story from the other side.

 

Nothing directly. But do we really want to go back to the Cold War days when most of Eastern Europe was under totalitarian domination from Russia? I certainly don’t and I’m bloody certain that the ex-USSR enslaved countries don’t want it either. Because Putin wouldn’t stop after conquering Ukraine.

 

Yes, I’m aware of that. But if he hadn’t illegally invaded and annexed Eastern Ukraine in 2014, it’s much less likely that the Eastern European countries would have been clamouring to join NATO and the EU. The US didn’t force its bases onto those countries, they were invited in. And the reason they were invited was because of fear of Putin’s territorial ambitions towards them, based on his warped view of Russian history.

That's pure conjecture on your part. He doesn't have the means to take the rest unless backed up by someone else, say China. He can't even make massive in roads into one of the poorest countries in Europe in the Ukraine. If by some way he does conquer Ukraine next stop would be the well equipped and armed Poland with what would be vastly depleted armies.

Nah, Moldova would be next. He’s already got agitators in there fermenting trouble. Then the Baltics. He’d only go for Poland if NATO didn’t respond to the first ones.
I agree that he doesn’t have the resources at the moment. But he’s playing a long game. He wants to be remembered as the man who reestablished Russian control of Eastern Europe.

 

Whether you like him or loathe him, Putin came across as honest and genuine in that Tucker Carlson interview and backed up everything he said.

The hypocrisy from our mainstream media towards Ukraine is almost insulting. Before the conflict started, Ukraine was rightly reported as a nazi haven who served Zelenskyy directly. Once Russia are involved, Zelenskyy and Ukraine is a tolerant, peaceful, lgbt-loving, diverse society. Give me a break.

 

Long game? He's still years away from controlling a small part of Ukraine that's on Russia's border. He ain't even contemplating bigger fish like Poland.

 

Quite a bit different from the western media portrayal of a madman suffering from life threatening illnesses eh? I listened to what he had to say with an open mind, it would do others well to do the same

That’s only because Ukraine didn’t roll over after a few days and have its tummy tickled like he expected it to. So, of course he’ll have had to revise his expectations. But that doesn’t alter the fact that he’s on record that Russia should still be controlling swathes of Eastern Europe that he believes ‘rightfully’ belong to Russia’s empire.

Do they? I have an extensive network of moderate left friends and none of them would do that. They might call Tommy Robinson types Nazis, buts that because they are, which has nothing whatsoever to do with Israel. I can’t speak for far left types, because I don’t have anything to do with them.
Clearly Ukraine, like many countries, has its racism and discrimination issues. But when Putin talks about Ukrainians being Nazis he’s not referring to that. He means anyone who believes in Ukraine’s discreet cultural history and rejects his false notion that Ukraine is, and has always been, simply a region of Russia.

 

That's just plain false. I could understand islamophobe, but certainly not a nazi. I'm surprised a man of your intellect doesn't have a reasonably comprehensive understanding of what a nazi ideology is.

Practically every left-wing counter-demo to anybody labelled right-wing have banners, placards and are chanting about nazis. Hence why I say it's a widespread left wing viewpoint to just aimlessly label a right wing viewpoint as nazi. It's typical lazy leftism.

Anybody opposed to topics such as immigration, asylum seeking etc is generally labelled a nazi in the left's eyes. The left pretty much see our national flag as a swastika (the England flag) when it is waved in any form of nationalistic pride (with perhaps the exception of sporting events).

 

Most left wing activists don't even know the meaning of the word nazi (I won't include @Offcomedun in that). It's thrown around like the word racism by folk should really know better but choose to throw buzzwords into the debate designed to shut down discussion.
