If I was Connor Wood, I’d be knocking down Hopkin’s office door and asking for a transfer. It’s clear that his manager doesn’t rate him, if he’s going play NKP there instead of him.

No, that alone wouldn’t have affected the game yesterday but it would have seriously hacked me off had I been Wood.

And how Akpan stayed on the pitch for the whole 90mins mystified me. We may as well have played with 10 men he was that ineffective.

Akpan offered very little (he was not alone) but I posted the above at half time we were 2 - 0 down we had little to lose Colville for Akpan and Wood for NKP unless Hopkin fancied playing NKP in a more natural position and changing him for another central defender.

I said on the Southend thread why on earth isn't wood playing. And I was slated saying because he's crap. Wonder how that idiot feels now, LB was our weakest position yesterday. NKP persistently out of position, always wandering into the centre. At least wood plays LB knows the position and gets stuck in abit. Absolutely crazy. Top lad is wood as well, did some work in his gaff other month when he just signed and he couldn't wait to get started and play proper competitive football.

 

It's like Hopkin played NKP at LB instead of Wood because he didn't want Wood to have a decent game because he wants Chicksen to come straight back in.

I'm highly concerned that he Hopkin would rather play NKP and Chicksen at LB then Wood plus it seems he doesn't want to sign another LB.

 

Conor Wood has now gone full-Jack Compton, where a handful of average performances in a badly underperforming side have now meant he could make a difference in the eyes of some romantically-inclined fans.

This happened when Parky took over the Jackson/Christie shambles, and thankfully we went on to move Compton on and Kyel Reid was our winger of choice.

Compton now plays for Chippenham Town. He's 30.

 

I don't agree with that one bit.

He's been backed up because he shows fight and spirit, he tackles hard, gets forward and doesn't get shrugged off the ball... unlike NKP.

We are certainly weak at left back. Not much to choose between the three used in NKP, Chcksen and Wood but only one of them has a chance of improving in that position. Only time will tell if Wood does.

 

Hopkin apparently would, and that's based on what's actually happened and not just a vague description of someone that certainly isn't Connor Wood.

Gillingham away:

First goal, Wood rinsed.
Penalty conceded, Wood booked.
Second goal, Wood nowhere near his man after a simple long ball.
Fourth goal, Wood nowhere near the other defenders, completely out of position, and thus miles away from the scorer.

No he isn’t. But he’s the best left back currently at the club; certainly when choosing between him and NKP

 

TBF, you’re not debating either. You’ve picked 1 game that he had a nightmare in. You could do likewise for all the others too. What about Chicksen against Barnsley for example.

Picking out his faults in 1 game, whilst ignoring his contribution in others and failing to use the same criteria for the other players, isn’t “presenting legitimate information”..!

 

Evidence is always legitimate information, and debate requires alternative information to be presented.

Feel free to show his highlights, but some of them need to be defensive if he was to make any difference whatsoever in the Southend game.

 

How can I provide highlights? These are usually shown when a team scores or come close. If Wood has done his job, there would be no evidence around, surely?
