Well done the threadbare team. Sounded like a much improved performance in the 2nd half. Nice to see second consecutive clean sheet.

I dont know how they did it with that team but full credit to all the lads, especially those in the middle of the park.

Much needed tonic for them and Hopkin.

    Small baby steps isn’t it?

Two clean sheets in a row and 4 points from a side who couldn’t keep a clean sheet to save their lives two weeks ago is improvement.

We were never gonna go and win 5-0 playing like Barcelona.

Get some players back over next couple of weeks. Take something off of Sunderland on Saturday and get some real confidence going.

Important win, quite enjoyed the second half it lacked quality but was end to end. Payne made a huge difference and could have had a couple of assists in the last 10 minutes, but I thought Connor Wood was very good as well. Defence were solid most of the time, of than when the keeper rolled his ankle which gave them an open net.

Just as well we don't play in the Scottish league ?

The main worry is an injury to the Hamilton Academicals, or in the Heart of your Midlothians, caused by a sting from the Partick Thistles, however, the pain is Morton a Man can bear. The pain is said to Rangers between painful and really bad. A generous rub with Dunfermaline helps ease the pain. The nurses at the BRI do a Stirling job with this injury, and many greet recovering patients with the words Alloa !
As the hospice was in the grounds of a Monastery, thank goodness Motherwell knew the cure - She was *@?$ O' the North, despite protests from The Queen of the South, no matter how desperately She were to Ayr her views. ;)

We didn't go 352. It was 442 with Wood at left back and NKP at centre back.

    O'Connor centre midfield.

Well, pretty much anyone is a higher standard than Brunker. And I'm hoping that Akpan has much more to show. Apart from that though, I see nothing in any of our missing players to suggest they'd strengthen the side. The bench, maybe.

Don’t get ahead of yourself Ricc, we’ve very much one of those awful teams. We just need to hope that there are 4 worse ones.

I've just finished watching Dmitry's video of the game. As you say, it was a hard fought game for both teams who at different stages of the game just got their noses in front. But it was hardly a good testament to League 1 football. Both teams deserve their current league positions. I thought the penalty decision was on the soft side and hardly compares to those which weren't given in our recent games. Our lot played with more determination and spirit from what we've witnessed recently and on the positive side, Hopkin seems to have instilled more desire to win into the team. Fitness has improved somewhat albeit from a low base. But there's still a lack of quality in the squad and there weren't many occasions when we were capable of stringing a few passes together. The tendency from both defenders and midfielders (other than Payne) is to play the high ball forward in the general direction of their teammates and hope it gets to them.

An interesting observation is how much Hopkin's voice is heard from the touchline. But it wasn't general encouragement as I'd hope for. Much of it was directed at individuals - 'Kai', 'Woody', 'George', 'Scans', 'Lewis' were regularly heard in a Scottish accent and being told where to position themselves as if they weren't thinking for themselves. More work is definitely required on the training pitch to drill some of the basic positional duties into some of them.

Yes, it was three points won but hardly a convincing performance. Was anybody worthy of more than 6? Not in my book.

Highlights are misleading Jon. They probably had 3 good chances all game, we limited them to very little. The back 4 was certainly a great improvement from recent weeks.

How are you attributing those wins to Kai Bruenker? Did he score a few goals? Did he assist any? Perhaps he played a few game changing passes or was immense in the air?

Stats of this nature are meaningless if you can't use it to support your argument

He initially grabbed him outside the box, which isn't seen on the initial camera angle. The ref got it right except for not giving the advantage signal when the initial foul took place, which would have avoided confusion.

Surely Steve Davies worth a punt for a few months? Big, horrible, knows where the net is.

Really? I would put the O'Brien twins in the battling bracket rather than flair.
