Well up till quite recently there was certainly an arse hole swallowing things up.

 

gotta be having a laugh with the inclusion of Omari Patrick.

 

I thought wood was very good in all honesty. Sounds weird given he was in a defence that shipped 5 but he was only on the pitch for the first two which came from the penalty spot and a corner.

He kept the best winger in the league quiet and the few times Lowe was free, woods pace meant he was able to recover fine. It's no coincidence Lowe scored 5 minutes after Wood was taken off. Has to start ahead of Chicksen, it's a no brainer for me.

 

I would play 442, some players will have to fit in where they can, but under no circumstances do we try and start with one striker, we need to attack.

 

Wouldn't mind seeing Colville play I thought he impressed earlier in the season I would leave Butterfield out he shown nothing to say he is up for the fight

So when Scannell, Reeves and co are two weeks away, they're never to be seen again.

I think ability and attitude are more importantl than age. I think over all Obrien has been our player of the season so far and he is just a kid..

 

I do think our left side has looked best when both Chicksen and Wood have played. It's the team rather than the individuals. To me we haven't looked as comfortable when OB has been pushed to play out there because his natural position is more central

 

Agree about Colville but disagree about Butterfield, he's not done much wrong. There was only him and Wood who got stuck in on Saturday.

Alternatively..... one of our biggest problems all season has been vulnerability down the flanks. We give too much space away for crosses to come in easily, which our CBs don't deal with.

So we could go with something close to a 442 and try and give our full backs better protection and bring some balance back into the side. If we did that sort of thing, I'd go with:

Caddis POC NKP Wood
Mellor Butterfield LOB Payne
Ball Doyle

It'd rob Payne of some freedom - but giving him freedom isn't helping in terms of results. He could still drift a bit if LOB played with a bit more defensive discipline - he's got the energy to cover the left side of the pitch if Payne is out of position. Mellor could tuck in a bit too. Ball can drop deeper to help the midfield if needed.

Something like that might be a bit more balanced.

Aye, it's a a fair challenge tbh. Same could be said about Mellor when he was more forward but was that with a back three?

Biggest problem is our central defenders have been rotten most games and we have very little option there.

Not sure Butterfield has done enough to start. Bit left field but I'd like to see Luca get some game time. He shoots, he's scored, things happen when he gets on. More than can be said for more experienced midfielders in the team.

A damn good question ! Which is why WHY I'm glad Bowyer has come in NOW, rather than Friday.
I'm sure he'll see what he suspects, on the training pitch, and I just hope he has a system or plan in mind to accommodate our better players.
