Usually agree with you Dennis. But to correct you, it is actually " there's still a lot of water to flow over the VP pitch and go nowhere..........before the club will consider .......bringing in a plumber";)

I’ll stop the scaremongering when the club release a statement stating that the VP rent is not holding us back, is manageable and will always be our home no matter how many tickets we sell or which division we might find ourselves in.
But they won’t do that because it would be lies.

Let's get real. The commercial side of things is fine, the playing side is shite. We are nowhere near administration or going bust, as leaving VP isn't even a remote risk at the moment.

I want sparks out, but if GA builds a winning team next year all this scaremongering and panic will be forgotten.

The commercial side is fine unless, and this is just speculation, the deals are depemdent on the number of season tickets sold or average attendance.

The location of odsal is literally 30 seconds drive from Horsfall, why is one appalling and the other merely unsuitable?

It didnt kill coventry. Year or so in league two and playing miles away from home yet now back in their own stadium, forced owners hands by the many protests, and find them selves on the cusp of the championship playoffs and in an fa cup semi final

Big difference was that Coventry got promoted in their first season in league 2 and only spent a year at Sixfields, how long have we been in league 2 again this time?

    Pretty obvious to me.

Odsal is, and will always be a dump.

Horsfall is unsuitable due to the size of it.

What makes you think it's funded by council tax? Much more likely to be funded by central government with the funds being ring fenced.

Nothing that money couldn't solve. After all VP was a dump before it was rebuilt.
Not that I think any money will magically appear. I guess we will stay at VP and keep paying the rent.

Correct, the money comes from the West Yorkshire authority and is backed by the government in the hope we all abandon our cars and catch the bus, or even better cycle, the same with the one going to run up Thornton road.
Pipe dreams , who in their right mind would cycle to and from work in the pissing down freezing cold dark of winter. Most of it uphill on your way home from Bradford central.

It is obvious that the rental cost is a problem whilst we are in the bottom tiers of the football league and something needs to change,
The stadium is in need of some TLC , most parts are well over 20 years old and do not appear to have been maintained in
all that time. Who is liable for this, club or pension fund.
Surely the older it becomes and continuing to fade, surely its value must reduce.
VP is our home, i love the place, for many reason's. But if we can not come to some agreement with the pension fund, then maybe it is time to look at the options.
It should never have got to this and is a legacy of bad management by former owners, the story of Bradford city and nothing new or exclusive to the present incumbent.

Out of interest who's his buddy, as the only other co-owner was Julian Rhodes you need to do a little research @AngyGaz.

I believe Sparks has commented with regards the ground rent, the rent stays as it is but we are in a higher league so generate more money, and the same once again if we were to gain another promotion to the Championship, then the rent is not the major problem but bringing players to the club and competing could be.

We should not go anywhere near Odsal, especially if the council are involved, they have wasted money on the big hole for years, whilst allowing a business , a professional minority sports club to pay a peppercorn rent.

I don’t know enough about the Coventry situation, only the one difference seems that amongst all the off-field chaos, they were able to get it right on the pitch - something this club has significantly failed to do in circa 8+ years and majorly underachieved.

My hope is the new ombudsman has the power to start bringing football finance back into line and more sustainable, her words,
My fear is nothing will change, as the top premier league clubs are too powerful and wealthy. They are responsible for the mess as much as anyone, they do not care, as long as they survive, damn the rest, hopefully their fans will become more active, like the European super league fiasco.
It will be interesting to see the Man city outcome.

I love how flippant he was at ignoring the immediate problem of rent being far too expensive for the club in the current climate.... and instead just pitched 2 pie in the sky promotions, like they just happen to us all the time, which will instantly solve our issues. It's a complete non-answer (surprise surprise from captain soundbyte) which doesn't address the here and now of the situation.
