    Reckon the United States' move to disband the coronavirus task force is the end. Pretty clear indication from the US that this is no longer an emergency, it just needs managing.

    We'll be hot on their tails, I believe.

    With all the security that trailing behind the US brings, I am convinced things will be back to a basic normality pretty soon, and it's already starting anyway. We just have to pace it all right and continue social distancing in non-essential situations to convince the public the government got their (belated) actions spot on.

    Almost all metrics suggesting peaks in key countries are behind us, it's just a case of being cautious now I expect.

    No longer an emergency!! That's what Singapore said and promptly ended with a second wave and further lockdown with the attendant financial and reputational damage.

    <Shakes head in disbelief >

    Yesterday the US had 2,300 deaths fron Covid 19 one of the highest mortality rates in the US during the pandemic. Does that suggest the emergency is over? Nope.

    And yet the Covid 19 task force has been stood down by the Prez. It will be replaced by a new task force whose primary role will be to kickstart the economy. It's difficult to reconcile those two positions without a recognition that the Prez's re-election campaign is due to start shortly. And the priority of his gun toting supporters in Michigan and elsewhere is their jobs and not preventing further deaths from the virus.

    This has little to do with the emergency being over and everything to do with the Prez's wish for a second term.

    In order for the players to be quarantined for 2 weeks first which is a good move in my opinion. I think it'll be a case of us and probably everyone else watching what germany do and eventually following their lead with regards to football.

    Not sure how the EFL is going to come back this season or next. Starting to think it's lights out for 12/18 months. The non league chairman said yesterday non league won't be back next season(he was moaning though)

    I said if football doesn't come back soon then next season doesn't happen and I stick by that.

    Clubs desperately need football back ASAP because no money coming in and why would sponsors want to spend money on a package that they don't know what it's like.

    No vaccine and might not ever be! Germany will hopefully lead the way as you say then the PL will come back hopefully.

    The virus isn't going away and we all have to cope.

    I'm not sure I'd take my cue from Big Don about when the virus is no longer an emergency. Ulterior motives spring to mind.

    I'm also not sure whether the peaks are the correct measure to judge when normality can come back. The downward slope of the peak is a direct result of the actions taken, normality just pushes it back up again sadly.

    They'll do it .. for their own financial interests and to the exclusion of everybody else. Several hundreds of millions of pounds from Sky and BT are dependent on the PL completing its playing schedule.

    They'll manage it. Probably be like 3 games a week but they'll do it.

    Abysmal. Players obviously not taken into consideration then? Doctors have written to the PL asking numerous questions about safety that need to answered before it can restart. Particularly around injuries at training.

    I personally wouldn't take any notice of what club doctors are saying. They are just another way clubs will be pushing their agendas to get what they want.

    Even the Peterborough manager said this is bollocks no the doctors won't be doctors at the clubs for much longer.

    Again this virus is isn't going away? It's makes me laugh when doctors or players come out and say wait until a vaccine. Might not be a vaccine.

    Football needs to get going because nothing is going to change for next 12-18 months if it at all.

    Not one of the doctors have said wait for a vaccine. Have you read it or just repeating the same message again and again?

    Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I watched the whole DCMS committee meeting yesterday and here are the points I got out of it.

    * Players were happy to accept a pay cut. They were consulted on this, but then the PFA appointed deloitte to explore the finances of clubs and decide whether they really needed to take a pay cut. So the PFA are acting in the interests of the players... hardly a surprise there.

    * Rick Parry had not had discussions in regards to shortened halves but he said if it was being considered, it would be to protect players because of the intensity of getting the games played. He also said he was aware they were considering upping the numbers of subs allowed.

    * Rick Parry was asked how many clubs he thinks will go under during this crisis. He wouldn't give an answer and said they are working hard to ensure NO clubs go under.

    * Because of the situation with players contracts he feels a decision will have to be made regardless on the EFL within the new few days. He thinks players are unlikely to want to play for their clubs with an extension to their contracts, risking severance pay when some of them know they will not have their contract renewed.

    * Financial model of clubs is unsustainable. With an average of 108% of income being spent on players.

    * Beyond getting this and next season played, they would have to look at a complete restructure of the leagues. (I know we've discussed this several times on this thread, but it seems like a reality).

    * He would not use the term 'bail out' but he did say a 'rescue package' will be needed for the lower leagues but the premier league will only look at supporting when they are allowed to complete this season.

    * Parachute payments are evil.

    * Club salary caps and squad size caps may need to be introduced.

    * Phillip Davies had a city tie on and got mocked for being a season ticket holder.
